I said this in a different thread, but since I have been confused by this since the beginning of Avatar I figured I would make a thread and see if anyone knew about this or had any guesses.
Question: If you are found out to be a Airbender, do the monks take you and raise you to be an Air nomad? b/c if they don't do that, then I don't see how it is possible for all Air benders to be Air nomades. and the tattoos, are the born with them or is that something the air nomads do?
I basically just copied and pasted my question...

hmm well I think that all airbenders were born in the airtemples so if he could airbend he would get lessons in the school there or whatever.
to the tatoo:you only get it if you are a good airbender,like aang or monk gyatso.

well, airbenders achieve their arrows when they are a fully realized avatar, and besides, who cares about what happens to the air nomads now? they're all dead! no im kidding; i think that they must've taken what tehy could and others would either die or learn on their own

airbending is my faverite one. ^^ these arrows,I wonder how the airnomads get them on their head.  not when or what they have to do to get one. |

I really don't know. I've never really focused much on the Air Nomad's. Not my favorite of the 4 elements. Sorry Well there not my favorite either, but I don't see how they could all be born in the temples if there are only guys there, I figure that the village people below probably had an airbender child and gosh, I guess they hand them over to be air nomads but I don't think I would part with my kid so easily, maybe they force them to give them up, but then that wouldn't make sense b/c they're monks for pete's sake, gosh I wish the show would explain something.  |

one thing about Air nomads that I do know is that every one of them is an airbender. that is the best advice I can give at the moment.

i think this was dicussed on a different thread..but not all air nomads are air benders...and only air benders who have mastered all 37 tiers of air bending recieve the tattoo arrows...thats wut i remember reading in one of the threads....

yeah, the arrows are pretty sweet, sorry didn't know this was discussed somewhere else, I actually went around looking to see if someone else posted something like this, but I guess I didn't look hard enough.

Ok, i know almost all airbending stuff. The four nations bending was develped by certain leaders. Those people spread the genarations of bending down through the family. The family spread down in the nations to were random people can get the powers. Mostly this stuff is genects. The main airbenders are useally found in the tempales, and already all the parents have the bending abilate, so theres a 99% chance for a child that can airbend. For katara and sokka it was diffrent cause kataras mom was a waterbender and her dad wasnt, so it was another genetic thing. Aang got his tatoos(which is made from an in erasable paint type thing) because of his invention of the air scotter(like and watch Appas Lost Days to see Aang and his group without tatoos). But Katara's mum was not a waterbender.. In the southern raiders here mum sacrifice her self by telling the leader of the southern raiders that she was the last waterbender at the southpole.. but she wasn't,, it was katara wasn't it? So how is it that katara can waterbend !!?
