In response to justafan's story of Dre Yu vs. Sanaki, whihc was well-written by the way, I am writing this is correspondence. Some events may be very similar, since this is supposed to slightly go with justafan's version.
Dre Yu vs. Sanaki: Alternate Ending
Sanaki had just finished winning another Agni Kai battle. by now, she had lost count of how many times she had won. The announcer said that this was her 153rd match in a row she had won, giving her a 153-0 win-loss record.
"So," said a voice from the crowds, "you think you're all that because you can beat up so many firebenders? You should see me fight--oh wait, that's right. You're blind. you will never see anything--not even your own potential."
These were the cutting words that Sanaki hated.
Sanaki paused. This was provocative material for Sanaki, for she hated not when people called her blind, but when people degraded her for it. Of course, he may have been only joking, but Sanaki--and the crowds--apparently did not think so.
"Fight! Fight! Fight!" they shouted,
"No thanks," said the man. He was enormous compared to little Sanaki, "I wouldn't want to have to pulverize a little blind girl just to get some glory. I'd sooner let her kill me just out of sympathy."
"you saying that my fights were mercy kills?" Sanaki shouted, and the man, named Dre Yu nodded.
"come at me then," said Sanaki, "If you beat me, you can turn me in for the reward!" Sanaki, despite being blind, pointed to a column where Dre Yu noticed a wanted sign. it showed Sanaki's face, and was labeled "The Swindler". Underneath it was an enormous bounty. Perhaps the only reason the crowds didn't turn her in was because of either their fandom, or their fear of her attacking. Dre Yu soon learned that many of Sanaki's competitors were Fire Nation soldiers vying for the prize. Sanaki made the same offer to them as she did with Dre Yu. Now, she was preparing for her next fight.
Dre Yu stpeed up, pulling out a bow. "I hope you like streams of flames," he said, and readied an arrow.
Sanaki began darting around with overwhelming speed, but Dre Yu had an interesting technique. instead of just trying to shoot Sanaki, he would fire an arrow at her and firebend it. Apparently he slipped fire somehow into these arrows. He was able to control their flight path as a direct result. The interesting part about this battle was that these two knew each other's weaknesses. Sanaki knew that, although Dre Yu was huge and muscular, he was no match against a brawler who used close attacks. Dre Yu, however, knew that Sanaki was weak against cold temperatures (but he couldn't do anything about that), and that they'd make her truly blind. He could also tell that Sanaki's tiny frame would not be able to take very many powerful hits. Therefore, as Sanaki advanced on Dre Yu, Dre Yu would sidestep, back flip, or roll around Sanaki to get some distance between him and her.
The fight continued, and both of them were amazing. Sanaki's most interesting move involved one where she spun around upside down, slapping people with her flaming arms. She actually could levitate herself a few inches off the ground with this. Dre Yu's move involed him throwing an arrow up into the air, catching it, loading it, and firing it down at Sanaki, making it home in on her with his bending skills. Sanaki, unable to see people on the outside, used her firebending sense to detect what Dre Yu had in store. it appeared that he could also lightning bend arrows, but that this drained his energy. Sanaki knew that this would be what killed her if it happened.
As Dre Yu dodged and defended against some of Sanaki's attacks, he faltered. however, this was not it for him. he abandoned his precept and spun around, nailing Sanaki with his feet. she was sent sprawling several feet, but immediately flipped back up without even using her hands as support. Dre Yu backflipped away and shot a stream of fire at Sanaki without arrows this time.
"That's a firs," Sanaki muttered, bring up a shield of fire, which absorbed the attack. Dre Yu noticed that Sanaki used a lot of defensive maneuvering. It was almost unnatural for a firebender. Of course, Sanaki was obviously not normal. Dre Yu knew this because Sanaki was blind. a blind firebender who actually had good skills was nearly unheard of.
Of course, Sanaki knew that this was no ordinary opponent. She had seen people firebending arrows, but they appeared to be much harder to control than the ones Dre Yu used. Dre Yu controlled them effortlessly, letting one arrow after the other sail towards Sanaki.
Dre Yu sensed that Sanaki was running low on stamina. He had foreseen this, since he knew that someone that small and thin could not last very long. She was moving and attacking far too fast. Sanaki, of course, had incredible stamina while firebending, but since she had not been firebending this entire time, she was indeed getting weaker. This didn't mean she was losing, it just meant that she was no longer at her peak of energy.
Sanaki decided to try and end it right here. twirling her arms into elaborate shapes, Sanaki shot out 6 letters: S-A-N-A-K-I. Dre Yu was surprised that a blind girl could spell her name.
"do that again," he taunted after all 6 of the letters missed. Sanaki did it again. part of one of the 'A's grazed Dre Yu's arm, but otherwise, he had avoided them all.
"now," he said, make an 'N', then a 'K', then an 'S'."
Sanaki simply shot out "S-A-N". This was enough proof for everyone that Sanaki could not truly read, but only knew how to spell her name.
The battle continued raging, Sanaki pinning Dre Yu with her absurdly fast moves more and more often. However, between that time, Dre Yu had shot both her legs, and watched her crumple. However, Sanaki was not about to make her last stand.
"This is where you die," said Sanaki ,"I don't go barefoot for no reason." Sanaki flipped onto her hands and began firebending with her legs. The surprising thing about it was that she was performing identical moves with her feet that she could also do with her hands.
Dre Yu, though, had a few more tricks up his sleeve. He decided to sacrifice a great amount of his energy into concentrating lightning into an arrow. He launched it, and it caught Sanaki in the air. It didn't actually hit her, but the effects paralyzed her legs.
Dre Yu figured she would not be able to get up. However, Sanaki sudenly shot up into a handstand again, used her momentum to flip over Dre Yu and then she blasted him in the chest with her hands, which, with her arms, were not paralyzed. Dre Yu fell backwards, motionless, a little blood trickling from his forehead. Sanaki was bleeding from her legs and a couple of other places where Dre Yu's arrows had pierced her, but was still conscious. She could not mvoe her leg at all though. A second or two later, a waterbender appeared. Sanaki recognized her from what she sensed. She began healing Sanaki, and then asked her something. Sanaki nodded. after the waterbender finished healing Sanaki, she turned to heal Dre Yu. the blow had actually killed him, but Sanaki's waterbender had some insane skills, revival being one of them.
"he's not half bad," said Sanaki, "maybe one day he might actually match up to me..."
THE END
well, what'd you expect? Sanaki just couldn't take getting beaten lying down. Bias is Bias. Sanaki's c0cky, and will probably always be!
So yeah, just like that waterbender will revive Dre Yu, that is how Sanaki returned for this fight... in case you were interested.
