I think he's been brainwashed, like the rest of the Fire Nation, to believe that the war is right and justified. It was he grandfather Sozin who was insane enough to want to conquer the world, not him. He might not be so bad. Sozin actually didn't appear rather evil in the end although he became bitter with his age, I don't think he was lying about making a unification at the beginning but he couldn't understand his friends complete disagreement and made him bitter for he didn't travel the nations and understand why their would be no more possibilities. He eventually became so bitter that he even forget his beginning intentions. I also believe that he destroyed all dragon because they possibly reminded him of Roku, whom had a dragon that he was closely bonded too. I think he also made the dragon title thing because he decided to completely indulge himself in something to do, just for the sake of doing it. that makes a lot of sense...well thought of |

I...don't like him...or hmmmm maybe if we saw him from another side....rather than from Zuko's eyes....but I don't like him. How can you like someone who heartlessly challenged a THIRTEEN YEAR OLD CHILD who was his son to an Agni Kai then, banished him. Was willing to kill his son, who was only ten years old....I really really don't like him.

He's not that evil, I think he is like Zuko, only needs to see the world with different eyes.
But he's annoying, thank god he doesn't appear so much in the show.
