WARNING: before you get mad at me, make sure you at least read this first line.
These are my opinions on each and every somewhat common ship. if I don't like your favorite ship, that's too bad. you can bash my ships here and we can have a shipping war that can reduce to crack shipping as always. I'm game for that.
I'm just saying don't smite me just because our ships are different. you're welcome to argue with me about it, and I'll warn you that I *might* get rude. however, this rant is going to be my nice way of describing my stance, so hear me out, and then argue away.

KATAANG: to me, Kataang seems like a one-sided relationship. Aang shows interest in Katara, but Katara does not show any interest back. So why does Katara love Aang and care for him so much? here's the answer.
The answer is because Katara has always been a mother figure. She was a mother figure to Sokka, and to Toph as well even. evidence of this runs rampant throughout the series, even for Toph. there is a lot of evidence in it in 208 and 307. Katara wants Toph to help out and explains the way their group operated (and Toph, like me, carried her own load and didn't give jack squat). similarly, in 307, an actual debate about that came up, and Aang had a funny gig.
ANYWAYS, back to what I was saying. To me, Kataang is a cliche. (a cliche is an overused term or statement). it's the typical "the main character gets the girl" thing all over again. With an ending like this it almost seems to Disney-ish... jsut my thoughts on the matter.
Of course, I have always been a Zutarian, and always will be. therefore my views are against Kataang for the most part. However, there's one last remark that must be said.
if Kataang happened, I'd be fine with it. I'd just much rather have Zutara
ZUTARA: ah, Zutara, how much I love thee. as zutara4eva once said "logic is for squares. Zutarians have more fun." And, I must say that she is right. Zutarians tend to be provocative and have a less strict guideline as to what defines a good ship. I like Zutara because I believe that would not only be an awesome twist, but also a cool couple.
Kataang might be cute, but Zutara is cool, and I'm afraid I might have to favor cool over cute. (luckily, Sanaki is both, in case anyone was wonrding why I like her so much). of course, the plot twist thing may not seem like much, but I love plot twists. evidence of that is in my fanfics, particularly Avatar Fight Club.
Seeing as all my ships are the ones with little evidence, I never cared about evidence very much. Just like Kataang and Zutara are yin and yang, Zutara evidence is the yang of Kataang's yin. unlike Kataang evidence, which appears to be out in the open, obvious, and all over the place, Zutara evidence is rare, subtle, and sometimes even hidden. like Bumi once said "instead of seeing what they want you to see, you've got to open your mind... to the possibilities."
As a result of this, I don't bother trying to see what they want me to see, but rather, I open my mind to the possibilities.
SUKKA: With Suki back it seems that Sukka is more likely. luckily Bumi's principle can once again apply here. I've never been fond of this one at all though. I might have even been okay with Kataang (I said I was if all else failed), but this and Maiko are intolerable for me.
To me, Sukka is another cliche. it was like a cheap, split-second rivalry, and when they got to know each other about 30 seconds later, they loved each other, and now, they just keep having really stupid, cheesy "rival" moments that are repetitive. every single time, when they meet, neither of them recognize each other, and they hate each other, but then when they remember each other, they're all like: "ZOMG I love you! *smoochy smoochy someone stab my eyes out please*"
so yeah, in my opinion, Sukka is pretty generic and nto very fun, and, if you know me, I like the fun ships... and the negative ends to Kataang and Sukka, which are Tokka and Zutara.
TOKKA: I will admit straight off that I have become more of a Zutara fan than a Tokka fan, because although Tokkans have more fun than just about anyone, I think the Zutarians beat them in that department. nonetheless, there's always a 2nd best, and Tokka takes the part. if people shipped ships in pairs, the most appropriate matching pairs would be Kataang & Sukka vs. Zutara and Tokka. why? because Kataang and Sukka have a lot of evidence and are out in the open. it's what they want you to see. Tokka and Zutara have less evidence, would be awesome twists, and are much more subtle... they are the possibilities. Like Zutara, which is the negative counterpart to Kataang, Tokka is the negative counterpart to Sukka. it's a lot less boring and is not a cliche. It first started out with Toph being a rival of the group. however, once Toph joined, the only person she ever really got annoyed with was Katara. Toph and Sokka developed a friendly relationship.
Many people say that Tokka is one-sided. To an extent it is. However, the Toph/Sokka relationship is good because unlike Kataang, which seems to be a mother-child relationship from the indifferent end, Sokka and Toph are good friends.
additionally, I like it because they would make a cute couple. "What? Tera, you said you didn't like cute as much as cool!"
I did say that. however, not once did I say I thought Sukka was cool, therefore, cute wins. so yeah. there's Tokka for you.
MAIKO: Maiko is not a cliche incidentally. however, it's so mind-numbingly boring that it makes me want to puke... and that does not happen often. I mean, people that are that emo about everything cannot be together... they need someone who has yin to counter their yang, someone more happy... again though, this is one of those ships that "they want you to see" therefore, I'll go around it, looking for the possibilities... there's not much else to say on this subject though, 'coz even talking about it makes me bored.
TAANG: To be completely honest, I hate this one more than just about any other. I don't know why, but it bugs the heck out of me. Maybe because it's so popular, and for what reason? Taang is a drink. The only "evidence" it has is that Toph and Aang are the same age. I mean, they're exact opposites.

Yes, I did say that. the difference is that there is/has been subtle Zutara evidence in times past. Toph and Aang are barely friends. besides, even if Aang wasn't going after Katara and Toph after Sokka, there is not much relationship.
so yeah. perhaps the reason I hate this one so much is because it's so popular for no stinking reason. I mean, I can see why Kataang, Sukka, and even Maiko are popular. it's 'coz of the so-called "canon" crap that I don't care about. nonetheless, they're still popular. There is nothing I can do to alter that fact. So yeah. Taang=no. just no.
JETARA/YUKKA: Jet's dead. Yue's dead. the probability of these are absolute zero. don't try to argue it, or you will get a pie in your face--a cow pie.
