The Avatar Fight Club was back, and this time, it was being run on a much larger scale. Avatar Zakura and Sanaki Li Chan, well-known staff members of this organization, were also planning on participating. Tera, however, who was the main coordinator for the event, had changed it up completely. There were two teams each of 12, and 5 of the 24 characters were called “guests”. They changed each round, but the other 19 were the new Avatar Fight Club Cast. There were new faces as well as some that disappeared.
Nonetheless there were two teams, one on either side of the arena, hidden behind the walls. Because of the way the arena was set up, usually only 3 or 4 people from each team were out at a time. The teams had already been decided, and were posted where anyone could see them.
“Wow,” Katara exclaimed, “Roku, Kyoshi, and Kuruk all at one time;”
“You can read, right, sis?” said a voice from behind her—it was Sokka.
“Hey,” she snapped, “be thankful you’re on my team for that remark.”
“That’s the only reason I said it, Katara,” said Sokka, backing away coolly, raising his hands, “that’s why I did it...”
Suddenly, from beside Katara, Toph appeared from nowhere (actually from underground) and gave Katara a “friendly” kick to the head, knocking her down.
“You’re going down, sugar queen,” she laughed, “my team’s got Ty Lee.”
“Not so,” said a woman from behind Toph. Toph suddenly felt herself being picked up around her neck and a hand clasped over her mouth. She struggled and tried to break free but couldn’t.
“June,” Katara exclaimed, and June dropped Toph. Katara needed not say any more June scanned the list quickly.
“Yep, she’s doomed anyways,” she shrugged, “I’ll catch you later, kid” (referring to Katara), “just don’t give me the urge to kill a teammate.”
Katara said nothing, but she stood up, only to get knocked down again. This time it was Azula. Behind her was that Avatar Zakura woman, Avatar Kyoshi, and Fire Lord Ozai. After all was said and done, everyone learned that on one team was Azula, Ty Lee, Aang, Jet, Toph, Avatar Roku, Suki, Mai, Ozai, Iroh, Avatar Yangchen, and a man named Shinon. The other team consisted of Sanaki Li Chan, a woman named Alzar, Avatar Zakura, Zhao, Sokka, Katara, Bumi, Pakku, Avatar Kuruk, Zuko, June, and Avatar Kyoshi.
“Ladies and gentlemen,” Tera boomed, “welcome back to the new AVATAR FIGHT CLUB!!!”
The crowds roared louder than ever. Tera went over the rules, which were the same as before—last one (or in this case team) standing wins. It was legal to kill a teammate, and “death” was only permanent until the next round. Interestingly enough, both teams decided to open up with 6 distinct figures. From the first team came Aang, Roku, and Yangchen, and from the other team, Kuruk, Kyoshi, and Zakura appeared. Fight club was returning with an epic avatar battle.
The two earthbender avatars were fighting against the two airbender avatars, and the fire one (Roku) and the water one (Kuruk) were going at it. Yangchen was holding her ground against Kyoshi, Zakura was clearly overwhelming Aang, and Kuruk and Roku seemed equal. All of the avatars except Zakura were people of few words, and so the only talking going on was Zakura’s taunts, especially as she countered a huge lightning strike back towards Aang, which took him out.
And Avatar Zakura takes the first kill of the new Fight Club—that’ll boost her already oversized ego some.”
Zakura laughed, and then went after Yangchen.
“Lightning strike, huh,” said a voice from behind her. It was Azula. However, she went after Kuruk, and so Zakura blasted herself over to his aid. Azula proved to be much more of a menace here than she was in the old Fight Club. She had this incredibly annoying spinning attack where she’d shoot small busts of blue fire which did minimal damage, but it threw a person off balance. For some reason, although this was not affecting her, this got on Kyoshi’s nerves. She enclosed Azula into a wall of rock, but Azula was able to melt her way out of it. However, the melted rock burned her hands.
“What are you gonna do now, Azula,” Zakura mocked,
“THIS,” she snapped back, and a flip-kick later Zakura was blasted off her feet. However, a quick but powerful airbending move made sure she landed back on them. Kuruk noticed that Roku gave Azula a thumbs-up about something. Kuruk turned around, figuring Azula would attack him from behind, but saw instead that she and Yangchen were taking Kyoshi down. She defended herself well, but Yangchen left her down, and Azula finished her with a rather nasty lightning bolt in the gut. While Kuruk had turned around, Roku has attacked Zakura, and now even she needed help. Of course Zakura was one of the last people who would ever admit that, and so their aid came from their team.
Out came Pakku on a huge wave of water, which, one the way down, he managed to enclose Azula in completely in. the ice felt good against her burned hands, and although she was frozen, she had a nasty smirk on her face. She melted herself almost out, so it looked like she was floating in an ice container, but otherwise just watched the battle. Considering Azula was a master of low-down techniques, she wasn’t about to just bust out and re-join the fight.
The next person to go down was Kuruk. Zakura had launched a slow but powerful cutting attack at Yangchen, and she seemingly stood there. However, at the very last possible second she used a powerful airbending blast to divert it towards Kuruk. This was given as a kill to Yangchen as a result. Pakku and Zakura were holding out against Yangchen and Roku, and Azula was still motionless. Pakku ended up conjuring up a powerful hailstorm which began crashing down on Roku and Yangchen.
They both were able to use waterbending and earthbending to protect themselves, but Zakura ended up using their earthbending against Roku. She kicked their walls of earth in, and Roku was crushed. He fell to his knees, and subsequently his face. Yangchen had only escaped because of her affinity with the air and her quick air nomad reflexes. So far she seemed to be the only person who had not taken severe damage—all she had was a small cut on her forehead.
After a while of only two people on their team, Zhao came to the aid of Pakku and Zakura. Right as he did, Azula broke out, sending an overwhelmingly huge blast of lightning towards Pakku. If it had hit him, it would have destroyed him. Fortunately for him, Zakura blasted herself in the way, pulling up an earth wall for some protection. It slowed it down a little, but even Zakura, who was one of the toughest built fighters, took heavy damage from it.
She was hit squarely in the chest by it, and it seemed to have limited the use of her arms as well. Luckily she was an earthbender avatar, for she used her feet for many of her moves. She was still standing, but was scrambling around more often. Azula leered at Zakura, hoping it would set her off. It did. Zakura though, had one more idea, for she knew that Azula planned to finish her, and she did not want that—that would injure her pride.
“Distract her,” she whispered to Zhao, and surprisingly, Zhao did, while Pakku was trying to keep Yangchen at bay. Azula was expecting Zakura’s straightforward approach, and planned to blast her at the last minute. However, at said last minute, Zakura swung to her right and tackled Azula to the ground. She wrapped her arms around her as tightly as she could and stood up. Azula was thrashing and throwing fire at Zakura, and it was burning her, and Zakura knew if she didn’t hurry this was going to kill her. Still with a death grip on Azula, Zakura ran towards the edge of the arena and dove off, taking Azula with her. Yangchen, Pakku, and Zhao all turned when they heard Azula’s screams as she and Zakura plummeted to their doom.
“Incredible,” Tera boomed, “Avatar Zakura pulls an unusual kamikaze attack taking Azula down with her. Definitely unorthodox, but whatever gets the job done I guess.”
Pakku and Zhao then turned to Yangchen and began fighting her. She was resisting their attacks well, but was getting overwhelmed. Suddenly another figure appeared.
“Zhao,” she shouted, “watch out!” it was Alzar, a firebending master who also had renowned blade skills. There were actually two people who appeared, but the other one had not been seen until her attack had been launched. Zhao was not able to react quickly enough to what happened, and Pakku glanced over at just the last minute. He was able to use a waterbending blast to knock the culprit, Mai, off her feet. However, similar to Zakura, she was able to land right back on them without even falling down. She spun around throwing all sorts of sharp objects towards Pakku, but Pakku reflected them with a swift waterbending movement. Mai dodged most of them, but still was “peppered” in a way.
“Get,” she whispered to Yangchen, and she was able to make her escape, but Mai sustained several injuries. She kept Alzar and Pakku busy while Jet and Toph broke out and into the fray. With Zhao gone, Bumi also appeared, poised and ready. An epic earthbending battle broke out between him and Toph. Jet and Mai were fighting Pakku and Alzar, and despite Pakku’s weakened state, they were overtaking the two. Alzar ended up sending a low wall of fire towards them. Mai flipped over it, but Jet didn’t jump high enough, and his feet got burned. He crumpled, and Mai began darting around to try and distract them.
“Take care of him,” said Alzar, “I’ll deal with this one.”
Pakku made an ice spear and finished Jet off easily by impaling him in the gut. He then swing it back around and launched it at Mai, slashing her arm. This stirred her up, and she came after him.
However, as she charged, Bumi slammed her clean against the wall with his earthbending tactics. He laughed his typical crazy laugh and blasted her off the arena with an earth column to ensure she was gone. However, the instant Bumi had diverted his attention from Toph; she had aimed a sucker attack at Pakku’s back, jerking him forward. Alzar heard a crunch, and knew that it had broken Pakku’s neck and probably his back at well. The fact that he didn’t get up sort of verified it.
Toph was by herself, but only for a few seconds. 3 new people came out onto the field—Shinon and Suki, who joined Toph, and Sanaki, who joined Bumi and Alzar. Sanaki was lightning-quick, and although Shinon was putting most of his attack power towards Bumi, Sanaki was able to divert it most of it because of her speed.
Bumi began again to attack Toph, who was exceptionally skilled at dodging. She darted around the arena. Sanaki was doing the same thing. However, they both came right at each other and smashed painfully head-on. Blood flew from both of them. Toph was unconscious and Sanaki seemed barely able to sit up. Bumi jumped forward to protect Sanaki, but something happened that no one had expected. Shinon had withdrawn, and Ty Lee popped in. she executed a lightning-fast maneuver that took Bumi down. Half the crowd was awestruck.
“And that was the most out-of-nowhere approach I’ve seen in a while,” Tera exclaimed as Ty Lee retreated, “come, kill, and leave.” Suki meanwhile was clashing with Alzar while Shinon made his return. Suki was actually able to strike Alzar and knock her down, but right before she finished her, a boomerang appeared from nowhere, slitting Suki’s throat. As it came back, Sokka (naturally) was the one who leaped up and caught it. He tossed Suki aside and helped Alzar up. In Fight Club, everyone on the other team was an enemy.
“Get Sanaki,” Sokka suddenly shouted, as Shinon closed in. Toph suddenly sprang back up as well, and Alzar had a close encounter with her. However, Sanaki flipped onto her hands and sent a ring of fire out. This blasted Shinon off his feet, where Sanaki finished him off by jumping on top if him with piercing flames. She was tired, but she and Toph were back to fighting status. It seemed though that Yangchen had been waiting for either Toph or Shinon to die, for she came bounding out with an incredibly powerful attack that was surprisingly an earthbending move from her as opposed to airbending. Sanaki was blasted off her feet. She spiraled several feet and was left clutching her chest. Her breathing slowed, and she died as well.
Alzar rushed to make it look like she was coming at Yangchen, and Yangchen launched an attack. However, Alzar sidestepped it at the last minute and kicked Toph into Yangchen’s attack. Somehow though, Toph managed to survive, but she was barely mobile. In her fury, she located Alzar and was able to successfully smash her between to walls of earth. She let them down and saw Alzar crumple.
Sokka was new left alone with Toph and Yangchen. Toph was able to stand up, and she came towards Sokka, rapidly chucking rocks at him.
“Time to go clubbing,” said Sokka to himself, and he began smashing rocks back and forth, avoiding getting hit. He looked around and could not see Yangchen. Suddenly, Toph stopped and just sat there, not moving.
“Heh,” said Sokka, “mercy kill.” He whacked Toph underneath her jaw, smashing it, and she fell backwards. The force of this attack combined with her other injuries killed her. Sokka soon learned why she had done that. Of course, he learned this AFTER a certain Iroh spewed a huge fireball from 2 feet behind him. He was powerful enough that it was a 1-hit kill. The crowds were all in awe again.
“Another brilliant tactic from that team,” Tera exclaimed, “sacrificing a fighter on the verge of death for one in near perfect condition. Now we come down to some of our final members here.”
Zuko, June, and Katara all burst out simultaneously. They were the last 3 members of the opposing team. Yangchen returned, and Fire Lord Ozai was with her and Iroh. June pulled out her whip, took a few steps back and then lashed Katara’s upper arm, cutting it open.
“Hey,” she snapped, “I didn’t do anything to you!”
“I know,” June replied coolly, “now they can see what happens when it lashes their necks.”
“You will pay for that treachery with your life,” said Ozai, and he began throwing huge streams of fire. Iroh, noticing this, added some of his own. Yangchen, who was an avatar, was also able to contribute.
Zuko, June, and Katara split; Zuko darted to the right, June to the left, and Katara stayed there using powerful waterbending to keep the flames from reaching her. She was straining, and blood began running down her right arm where June had cut it. Katara was straining more and more, and was getting pushed closer and closer to the edge. Suddenly, she felt the energy of the fire decrease substantially. She sidestepped and noticed that June had taken Ozai down, and that Zuko and Iroh had locked themselves in combat.
Katara would have gone after him to help, but Yangchen was after them, and to make matters worse, Ty Lee appeared again. Iroh and Yangchen smirked. Zuko stayed still for a second too long, and Iroh send a huge lightning dragon towards him. It blasted him clean off his feet, slamming him against the wall. Katara threw some water to make into ice so he wouldn’t fall, but she was too far away. Zuko plunged off into the oblivion in defeat. Iroh turned around and came at Katara.
Jun meanwhile was fighting Yangchen and Ty Lee. She was using her whip at Ty Lee, lashing her wrists and ankles. She was being kept at bay, and she was cornering Yangchen. June was too swift for Yangchen to land a powerful attack on her, and the less powerful ones didn’t make her flinch too hard. Ty Lee was still looking for an opening, but June wasn’t giving her one.
Suddenly they heard a yell. Iroh had fallen, and was on top of Katara. Iroh started moving, but a few seconds later they learned that it was Katara. She was covered front and back in blood, and yet Iroh didn’t seem to be bleeding except for his neck. Ty Lee jabbed June’s neck while she was turned and these two began fighting. Katara was focused on Yangchen, and Yangchen was pretty sure she knew what Katara was trying to do, so she resisted. Katara began moving closer to Yangchen, and the two of them were trying to force each other into submission.
Yangchen was oblivious now to June, who had caught Ty Lee in a headlock and was almost through choking her to death. Katara kept moving in, still not breaking her focus with Yangchen. When she got close enough, Yangchen was already at the corner. All it too from Katara was a simple kick in the gut and Yangchen plummeted. Katara then sent a sheet of ice down to keep her from flying back up. It worked. The game was set—or, almost was.
“Sleep,” said June into a blue Ty Lee’s ear, and she tightened her grip before letting Ty Lee go—she was down and out.
“And we have our winners,” Tera announced, “team 2 has triumphed, with June and Katara as the only survivors. That’s about all I need to say on the matter folks. While Kai I and II clean up the mess, we’ll pleasure you with a word from Zuki Meisha about what she thinks of Fight Club.”
A brown-haired woman with a cute face and a huge red scar on the left side stepped up. She had a huge, clueless smile on her face, and yet something about her made her cute and lovable.
“Zuki think fight club is FUN!”
Everyone laughed. Tera smiled. Avatar Fight Club was back in business, and this time, it was bigger and better than ever. June and Katara were still out there, Katara hanging to June for support. Neither of them cared though, for they had won.
so, whatcha think? ~Katara~
