and currently we know nothing of her fighting prowess, but to be that high up she probably has to be pretty good...

well, she was actually talking about physical strength, where men generally are stronger than women.
("no need to be able to out-bend someone you can overpower")
she hasnt gone much into bending tactics.

no, not at all...
if anything, it'll be a man to say that to a woman, and then get the juice kicked out of him.
in my story, I haven't made either gender dominant over the other, but rather put them on more equal grounds.
I mean, some of the most powerful characters in my story are girls.
the most powerful character overall (Katara) IS a girl, so... =P
