O.K.
When he was first transformed into a Lythoropyre, the plan was like this:
Make him strong
Give him power
Give him a lust for blood
Give him a power source (The Moon)
Remove his soul
Unfourtunantly, the witch that was doing all this removed the soul incorrectly, and it, metaphorically, "tore", leaving remnants of it behind.
That means he still has some tiny specks of real humanity in him, although obviously this doesn't show very often.
That is how he actually falls for one of his "long term tagets".
Anyway, he doesn't discover this untill he realises he has fallen for her...
He would have asked the witch about it, but the first thing he did as a demon was kill her, so...

I would tell you the story of the main character of my novel, but I have so many main characters it would take a while.
I can name all 110 characters from my book by meory.
