Sanaki: it depends on if you were just acting nice or if you were actually nice.
Orophin once told me of someone who will build you up a hole lot, and then tear you down so fast that you become lower than the lowest lifeform. Oh, and he also told me a pretty graphic way that this guy would kill me...

Sanaki: when talking to someone who is not disabled, be sure that you remember that they are not disabled.
of course, being blind is not a disability, it is simply a trait known for its awesomeness...

Ozana: yeah, i'm going to have to remember that next time, it's hard to remember that everyone else isn't deaf when you are. and so now HE is more annoying then before.
Aang: I can't beleive you lied to me.
Ozana: i realy just dont care.
that was sort of mean to someone who was trying to help you
Ozana: *turns head away from both* wow it's really easy to ignore people when your deaf.

Here,
Katara walked over to Sokka and Toph. I made the fire bigger so she could see what she was doing. Once she saw Toph, she had a shocked look on her face. She franticly woke Sokka up. She started to yell at him, or at least talk to him sternly. Toph stirred a little and said something that set Katara off further. Sokka quieted her down with something. Man I wish I could have heard the argument. Aang walked over to them to see what was happening.
“Excuse me.” I said, no one acknowledged, “EXCUSE ME” I yelled flickering the fire. They all turned towards me. “ In case you haven’t noticed I'm deaf.” Toph and Sokka started to laugh. Aang looked a little confused and Katara looked stern. Sokka and Toph looked at Katara and realized it wasn’t a joke. They all talked for a while casting looks in my direction. I hated being talked about behind my back.
After a while the talk turned into yelling between Katara, Sokka and Toph, but mostly between Sokka and Katara. Aang stepped in. Today was going to be a terribly long day. I sat down and closed my eyes. This will only last for a little while. There’s no way it could last longer then a week. I kept repeating this over and over in my head until someone tapped me on the shoulder. It was Sokka. He started to say something to me.
“Hello deaf” I said pointing to my ear. He looked taken aback and started to talk slower. “Sokka let me inform you of something. When you become deaf, you don’t automatically know how to read lips.” He left and I followed him with my eyes. He asked Toph something. She bent him a quill looking thing and he came back over to me. He started to write a message in the dirt.
Ozana, I know I haven't actually been the friendliest person to you, and I just want to make it up too you. I want to help you learn how to read lips. How does that sound? (joke)
I looked up to him. he was smiling slightly. I felt an emotion I had only felt with one other person. Love. He truly did want to help me. “Okay” I said. If nothing else this would be an advantage. We would bond and he could become more comfortable with me. perfect. Deafness had just added an extra layer of human.
