--flashback--

I was almost 15 and currently, was in an alley about to meat Anzon. This was a rather common thing, because my mother didn’t like me to interact with non-firebenders. He finally came around the corner.

“Ozana?” he asked.

“It’s me” I said cheerfully back.

“Where were you yesterday?” he asked coming closer to me.

“My mother kept me back, I’m sorry, she wouldn’t let me go.” I apologized.

“That’s, okay,” he said putting his hands right below my shoulders. “it’s not your fault about that witch.”

“I’d rather you not call her that.” I said averting his gaze.

“I’m sorry, i just wish you would stand up for yourself against her or at least let me stand up for you.” he was looking strait into my eyes. i loved it when he did this, it made me feel accepted and loved.

“I can’t, I wouldn’t last a minute against her. I’m working my butt off just to stay at the level I’m at now.” i started to cry, for some reason, my emotions always came out when i was with him.

“Hey, it’s okay” he said gently wiping my tears, “I believe your doing fine. You know your Mother, she’s going to treat you like crap until you can beat the crap outa her.”

I smiled, “I don’t know if I can take this much longer though. .She’s been pushing me a lot harder then usual. Do you think she knows about us meeting?” I asked with worry.

“Relax,” he said softly kissing me, “I’m sure if she knew something worse would have happened by now.”

“your right” I said dreamily.

“Besides, she couldn’t do anything to you.” he said kissing me again. this time it lingered a little longer. “your way to pretty.” I blushed at this sappy line, what could I say, I was in love. I smiled. “Such a pretty smile,” he said stroking my arm, he hit a burned part. I yelped out. “are you okay!?” he asked.

“No” i said flatly while showing him the burn mark.

“What happened?” he asked, voice full of concern and worry.

“I just burned myself earlier today.” I said looking down. he pulled my chin up to his gaze.

“Did you burn yourself or did she burn you?” he asked in all seriousness.

“This time it was me.” I said pushing his hand from my chin and looking down.

He looked at it again. “I whish she wouldn’t work you this hard. This is the fourth time this month.”

“It’s not her fault, I just suck at fire bending, that’s all.”

“Look, your mother was a prodigy, she’s expecting you to be just like her, when the truth is, your not her. You two are two different people. I mean, your skin is noticeably darker, your a lot taller, more considerate, much prettier.” I smiled.

“Do you really think that or are you jut trying to make me feel better?” i asked.

“Of course, your like 3 inches taller and a lot darker, it‘s like she‘s not even your mother.”

I laughed. “no not that i meant--”

“Hey, shut up, do you have any idea what time it is?” some one yelled out of their apartment.

“you probably should go, it is getting late.” he said turning around.

“Wait, you forgot something!” i said. he turned around.

“What?” he asked in total wonder.

“This” i said leaning in to kiss him. it was all to short and pretty soon we had to depart. i wasn’t looking forward to--

My father poked me.

“What?” I asked, we were in complete darkness. i waited for about 15 seconds. “ya know your gonna need to talk louder........oh wait.”



Ozana: yeah, so um now you know.
