Ozana: What's that supposed to mean? i didn't say i was stupid. i said i understand less then people who are wiser then me.

Sanaki: I understood your meaning.

Ozana: hey arn't you supposed to be concentraiting? oh never mind, i don't really care that much.

Sanaki: I already finished.

here's anothe installment of Sanaki's life.

CHAPTER 1
“I remember my life as a baby so vividly,” said Sanaki, “the clothes I was wearing were not much different than the ones I am wearing now. They seemed really fancy. Maybe I was part of the royal family. That was all I had though. I was left in the side of the road, presumably for dead. However, I guess fate had a second chance in mind for me, because my life was about to change. I felt the soft, warm touch of a pair of human hands. I was blind and had no idea who it was, but I could feel a warm aura radiating from her. I also sensed another aura from someone nearby. This was likely her husband. Of course, this is my recollection now. I wasn’t thinking of anything when I was a baby. A baby wouldn’t be able to give an account like I am doing.

“Rafai,” the woman said, “who is this?”

“I don’t know, Karly,” the man replied, “but she was obviously abandoned. No one “loses” a baby like this.”

“I think we should take her with us.” Said Karly, the woman,

“Karly,” said Rafai, her husband, “I married you for a good reason. Agreeing was one of them. We’re taking her.”

Karly’s face lit up as they cradled me. I had no clue what was going on, wince I was blind since birth. Perhaps that was the reason I had been abandoned. Nonetheless, I was taken back to their humble abode. It truly was humble from what I sensed. There was a distinct smell. It smelled like fire, but also like warmth and love.

They did indeed love me. This day was historic though, because this was where I got the coolest name in the world.
“What are going to name her?” Karly asked,
“Well,” said Rafai, “we’re obviously going to have to make her a Li Chan, since that’s our family’s name, but what to do for a first name...”

They both thought long and hard. I may have been blind, but I listened with full attention to them. For some reason, I felt like I could understand them even though I couldn’t speak.

“She seems vibrant,” Karly said, “she looks like she would make an incredible bender.”
“We’re not sure if she can though,” Rafai replied, “but I can see what you’re getting at.”
“Wait...” Karly exclaimed, “Look at her eyes. They’re gold, but they’re so pale. Do you think she is blind?”
“That’s usually one of the signs,” said Rafai, “but I’m no expert. I guess we’ll just have to see as she grows older.”
“So,” said Rafai, “about that name: I think she’d be a good ‘Sanaki’, how about you?”
“Are you serious?” Karly exclaimed, “Sanaki?”
“Um, yeah,” said Rafai timidly, “i-is that bad?”
“No, of course not,” Karly exclaimed, “The funny thing is, that was the name I was thinking of too!”
“In that case, fate has helped us choose a name. Sanaki Li Chan it is.”

I was too young to care at the time, but later in life, I thanked fate—or whatever the force behind them naming me was...

I grew until I was nearly 3. By then they had discovered my blindness. However, what they said were some of my favorite words ever. How I loved these two!
“Rafai,” said Karly, “come quick!”

“What is it, Karly?” Rafai asked, looking concerned. These two were meant for each other, and were always there for each other.
“She really is blind,” Karly replied, “completely blind. Watch this.”
I didn’t know it, but Karly was shining a bright light into my eyes. I guess I just gazed forward without blinking.

“Do you know what this means?” Karly asked,
“Indeed,” Rafai replied, “it means absolutely nothing. We will raise her just like a normal child.”
“That’s exactly right.” Karly declared. These words were my ultimate reassurance, even years after the incident.

They raised me normally, I assumed. They didn’t know that I was a firebender though, but that was most likely because I was too young at the time. They taught me how to walk and talk and how to live happily. They helped me become fond of my name. I still remember saying it as a child... “Sanaki,” I would say slowly, emphasizing the ‘nah’ and pausing just briefly before the ‘key’. I would say that for hours on end. It was obviously my first word.

Anyways, I grew up normally. I received a little bit of special treatment because I was blind, and the Li Chan family was very protective of me. They were not overprotective, but they were deeply concerned for me.

And then it happened. Somehow, a fire had started during the night and burned the house. I was somehow rescued, but both Karly and Rafai were killed. Once they had pulled my tiny, 3-year-old frame from the building (I was right by the door for some reason) they just left me a good distance away. It was here though, that I noticed something, even at my young age. I noticed an attraction to the fire. I felt like I could take it at my fingertips and do what I wanted with it. Suddenly, something exploded and I felt the heat from a burning piece of something. A small fire had landed right next to me. Therefore, I began playing with it. I didn’t know what it was, but when I moved my hand, it followed. It was the beginning of greatness for me. I would have kept playing with it, but a very tall woman who I later learned was a waterbender picked me up...

it was a sad story.
you do know who picked me up at the end though, right?
