I think it actually was self-inflicted...
probably from the same stress factor from losing Zuko.
I mean, I may not have described it very much, but losing him literally devastated her.
she barely eats or sleeps. she only resumed her normal habits recently...
and doing that probably made her malnourished, and she shrunk.
she's also still pretty thin...

the main point of that last post was showing her stress from losing her husband...
had it been Kataang and Aang had died, she would have done the same thing in my story.
