Piandao Story
This is a story of Master Piandao
As Piandao sat there he was thinking of the young water tribe boy, thinking of how much he was like him when he was training. Then he remembered something his Master would tell him in fact it was a story he use to tell him or maybe an illustration.
He got up and looked in a small wicker box and found a letter he got from his master. And on the back of the letter it had the illustration that his master had said so long ago. As he read it he started to remember how his master came up with it.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
A young Piandao looked at his master then at his sword.
His master had been teaching him the same technique for the longest time. He could remember it in his sleep. He want to progress farther but his master said “ You are still not ready young one.”
Oh that bothered him so much. He had people tell him he had great talent why couldn’t his master see that.
So that day he asked again to his master.
“Master Le’sung can we please move on to the next sets?”
His master stopped. And stood for a very long time. - wonder what would happen next.
His master took a deep breathe and started to walk over to him. And then sat down.
And he said to him “ Piandao you still have so much to learn” and motioned him to come sit by him.
“Young one, do you see this sword.” Taking his sword.
He nodded.
“I am going to tell you an illustration about this sword.”
And so he began....
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Swordsmanship is very much like bending.
Just because you have the talent doesn’t mean you know how to use them right.
Do you see a stone being a sword?
No but it has to be molded and heated and shaped and cooled and sharped to be a sword.
The same goes for training. You have to be shaped and molded and sharpen before you master the skill.
But even after you have the sword do you see the sword giving you the knowledge to use it?
No you have the master to share his skill and technique and show you the way and to help you not to push your self to hard and give up entirely.
And that is why I keep you at a level until I think you are ready.
But even after you prefect your skill you need a battle in order to use you skill.
You use it to advance your knowledge and skill to become greater than that of your enemy.
But even after that you still need to advance more to master your skill.
And by that you have to watch your enemy or your brothers to watch their techniques and specialties in order to advance.
But even after that you still have not became a master yet, you have to develop a method and technique.
And then you have to put it to work.
After all the work you have put through all of this you have finally mastered it All.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And at the very bottom of the letter it said....
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And now that you have mastered the skill you have worked so hard to master it is time that you put you work to good use and start teaching the young -s or the time and help the see the way and help them to know that patience is the best teacher of them all. And thank you for pleasurable time I had to teach you
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
And in the envelope it had held a white lotus piece in it which was in his hand as he had a faint smile and tear in his eyes as he whispered “And thank you for teaching me Master.”
And bowed slightly to the silence.
