This is my first Fanfiction in avatar verse and second of all fanfiction so it's probably to worst thing you'll ever read but I was inspired after reading some fanfctions and books. Several concepts are my own, other are some other peoples. It's really cheesy and corny
The Unfortunate Fate of Many Fire Nation Soldiers
A long time ago, he would’ve thought that this would never happen. But it did.
The mission to destroy the Earth Kingdom base camp village had started off pretty well, even with his team of new recruits.
--- (Flash Back) ----
He watched as he ordered his men to place blasting jelly at co-ordinate A, 6 E, 4 and H 9. They were situated at the high left side portion of the hill. The hill was situated in their advantage, as gravity would give his team a far better advantage against flying rocks, as they were rather heavy and he knew Earth benders could hardly bend it when they had no physical contact. The Barrels were made to create a landslide in the areas, where the rock was weak from the steams as well as several mining attempts in the past. The fact that the hill had hardly any vegetation until the end of the cliff made things much better for a landslide.
Now the earth benders were starting to head inside their camps, probably awakening too late to stop the landslide, several would probably be killed in the onslaught and the remaining earth benders would be in too much of a panic to retaliate, seeing as they were younger then even some of his team of new recruits. Inside him, a little bit of him said “This isn’t right, their innocents, this is outright murderer” but he also tried to remember one of the reasons he was doing this. To share the greatness of the Fire nation with the world, the big pay check which could help his family graciously, the option to show off his skills, he listed endless reasons in an attempt to quell his guilt.
He started hearing some rumbling in the mines, he heard about them from his superior and they said that there were several gas notches and pockets and they were explosive in nature so starting the explosions them would be advantageous.
He made a signal for the soldiers to light up the barrels, lighting up the barrel near him first, creating an initial impact soon flowed by a second wave of rocks. He plugged his ears and covered his eyes and instructed the new recruits to follow
The sounds of several screams were deafened in the crashing rock. The village was nearly levelled and caved in on itself. Any traces of blood were smaller then a smear of blood, most of the damage being internal.
At least, that was what it should’ve looked like. Instead, many of the major buildings were safe, the farm and food supply untouched, many rocks have been blocked by walls of earth. Several broke through walls, over’s simply flew over them due to a slant. A majority of the buildings were destroyed and only a several few dead. No matter what, the landslide operation was a failure. He could only hope that his men could fight and destroy the remains.
All of a sudden he noticed something he should’ve noticed sooner. The earth benders were supposed to be asleep. So why were they here now? Then he spotted the answer. A gruff looking man that was barefoot. The most peculiar thing was he was wearing an eye patch, using the earth kingdom symbol instead of the black patch along with clothes of someone of a high rank. From his battle Scars; he knew that he was the one who caught them.
Hearing some gruff noises to his right, he saw several of his new recruits being defeated by a brigade of earth benders whom had sneaked behind and attacked with the high ground advantage.
The only escape route was to head down, and hopefully destroy the village too.
The world slowed down as I quickly engaged in a battle with the Eye patch man, throwing a quick burst of fire from his feet. Eye patch man quickly threw up a shield of earth. I quickly shouted “Trying to hide behind that puny wall or yours? My grandma can do better! ” and seeing I couldn’t get a response from him, I leaped into the air and launched several fire balls at him. He sank into the earth and reappeared, only to raise him air up, attempting to strike me with a pillar of Earth while saying “Die Fire Scum!”
Luckily, I was a very agile and quick person, so I quickly shot a pillar of flame towards the rock pillar to slow my descent. I replied “In your dreams!”. I slid down the pillar, shooting several small pellets of fire at him. He replied with a series of rocks aimed towards me. “Why would I waste my dreams on you?” he taunted, trying to get a rise out of me. Too bad he didn’t know fire was fuelled by rage. The rocks had a trail to dust, suffocating my fire. I responded by charging up my fire a little bit and launched a stream of fire with enough force to Blow his rocks out of orbit and still have enough energy to leave a potentially fatal blow.
He responded with an armour of rocks, protecting him from most injuries and the heat, but the chinks in his armour made him still experience some of the blast. He quickly stopped himself from falling off the cliff into the forest area with a rock wall. He quickly used bits of his rock armour and the loose soil in the ground to attack in a tendril of earthly elements.
I cart wheeled away and quickly launched a few bursts of fire to ignite the barn house in an angle so that it would topple over him. He quickly turned his rock wall into a wave that he could ride on, riding right at me. “Time to die, Fire Nation Scum” I launched a stream of fire towards him, letting anger cloud my better judgement and not dodge. He quickly responded by putting up a shield of soil. I made a makeshift shield of fire and launched a continuous stream of fire towards the shield and jumped back. I felt something leave the top of my head as I sped backwards.
As I was already moving backwards, the ram only hurt slightly, with my fire giving a boost to help close the speed gap between me and the ramming rock. Thanks to my large lung capacity from speed training, I punched through the soil shield with almost all of my strength and unleashed all my remaining air and strength in a fiery blast. I heard my fire cracking, and I could hear to horrid screams of the one whom I struck, screaming until I finally heard a big thud on this ground and the sounds of many bones cracking. The world stopped slowing down as I realised he must’ve died.
I heard something fall beside my and picked it up. It was a photo of a young boy, a mom and a father in what looked like a rundown old town. I guessed that this was his family. I started feeling an aching feeling in my chest. I looked over at the bamboo stalks to the side. “I can still get out of here and then we can finish the mission and I can go home. I’ll take a break and then go back to the battlefield” I thought to myself. Wait, go back to the battlefield? Why did that sound so uncomfortable now?
I slid myself off the wall that was already crumbling. The wave of rock that person rode still stood, probably because of the solid structure. Just as I was about leave the battle field, a Young clear voice rang out “ Freeze!” and the next thing I knew I was banged up against rock wave and a giant boulder. I fell down and brought my hand to my mouth. I felt a wet substance come out and touch my hand. I took my hand out and say the red substance, coating my arm. I felt my eyes widen in shock. I felt very faint and looked towards my group. I say many of them unconscious and several of them looked dead of dieing. I felt sorry for them that they didn’t get to live life to its fullest. I had nagging feeling that I was going to join them. I feel unconscious soon after that.
--- (End Flashback) ---
I wake up, still very groggy and in a lot of pain. I looked over myself and say that I was chained to a rock on my back side and the earth nation warriors discussing something about battle plans and stuff involving the war and how they were going to take back several villages. I was surprised when the discussion turned to how they were going to deal with me. “Maybe we can interrogate him?” “Nah, we already got enough from that other guy, I wonder where their commander went?” “I guess he left, too bad we can’t interrogate him.”
I wondered what they were talking about, for I was the commander. Then I realised that the object that dropped off earlier must’ve been my commander hat. Then I felt the rock I was chained to be uplifted outside of the shady makeshift tent to the outside. From the Sunset I realised I must’ve been out cold for over 3 hours.
I heard a boulder being lifted up, dust flying through. I closed my eyes and ignored my parched throat. I decided to think about everything, and now all my regrets were starting to come back to me.
I felt regret for the Earth Nation soldier I killed, and how his family will never see him again, about how my family will do without me, about all the friend I even made, and m-
“AAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!”
I feel the rock knock the air out me. My chest felt on fire. My limbs felt like rubber. I felt my entire circulation to my body shut off and I felt entirely numb, myself blinded in this moment of darkness, my eyes crushed under the rock. I for the first time felt what a powerful element earth was, to give this feeling of helplessness, of cold despair. Then I felt a voice in my head that sounded a lot like my old teacher, Ira or something. I felt like I was having amnesia, yet I still remember who I am. I felt the past years fly by me in a second.
I say myself, being held in my parent’s arms with their smiling faces. Then the scene flashed to when I was at the playground and then somebody named Zhoa or something pushed me into the sand. Another flash and I was at the fire academy, sticking up for a school friend from a grown up version of the kid who bullied me when I was younger, blocking his fire balls by dissipating them. Then I remember learning about history in our class, about the rebellion of the air temples, the grand history of the fire nation conquering, then flashing to a time where I was learning under a man whom was supposed to be the next fire lord, with me having thoughts about being a great runner so I could build up lung capacity and make streams of fire. Then I tell my sensei about this and he smiles and pats my head. Then I get assigned into the ranks and get a seated rank in my squad and then I remember all my various missions.
I remember about how all the people I’ve killed, all in the name of sharing greatness with the world, and how their lives went out like the flames I create, can never be remade and gone forever. I remember all of the sins I did. And then it clicks in my mind. What sharing with the world? We’ve always just been killing people all this time. I didn’t see anything about sharing with the rest of the world. I wish I could give that horrid wretched fire lord a piece of my mind, but I realize know hat I was too foolish to believe him the in first place. That rebellion of how the Air Temples opposed to sharing of the world must’ve been a lie.
Out of my piece and quiet, I can hear the faint crackling of fire again; I feel my body filling itself with adrenaline again, as streams of fire strike across the battle field, the earth giving way to blasting jelly and bending, rocks crashing and shattering.
I feel the rock above me give way to a great explosion, covering my in a shower of little rocks. My tired weary body can hardly cooperate with me, but the fact I might be able to go back home to the tropical beaches and sunsets and see them once more makes me urge myself to go on. I heave small rocks left and right. At last I see daylight again, my nearly crushed eyes adjusting to the sight. I see 2 fire nation soldiers over there. I try to speak but my parched throat won’t comply. I reach out my hand. They turn around and look directly at me. I can hear bit’s of their conversation, my ears adjusting to sound “what if … a spy?” “lets….ignore” “ti…t…o” I reach my hand out further but then they walk away. I feel helpless lying on the ground. I reach my hand to the ground and try to push myself more out of the pile, but I can already feel myself knocking on deaths door. As I draw my last breath I just hope my family is safe.
See? It's corny and Cheesy.
