Tera: I was a little angry when I wrote this... I hope you'll forgive me.
THE NIGHT OF TRAGEDY
I could not believe what was going on. A day ago she had been just fine, and now, Sanaki Altina Li Chan was dying. Her sister, Mikaya, was at her side, crying for her dying twin sister. Kai Serenes I, Sanaki’s mother-figure, had been up all night with the twins, comforting them and trying to heal Sanaki, but by now she had come to a conclusion as to what was wrong with her.
“She’s losing the will to live,” she announced, “if that is not stopped, she will die very soon.”
The day before, Saza, the boy whom Sanaki loved with all her heart, had been involved in a confusing incident that was very inadequately explained to poor Sanaki; and this had been a devastating blow to Sanaki’s delicate soul. Sanaki was in a state of unconsciousness, her sister clinging fervently to her through constant bawling.
I didn’t know what to feel. Kai was dwelling on it for so long as well. She had already had several sleepless nights before this, but now I could sense her weakening too. The outcome of Sanaki Li Chan would affect several people.
First, Mikaya would be affected, and then Korotu, the boy she loved, would also suffer from her loss. With them gone, Kai Serenes would be dwelling on their deaths for a time. Kai, being the way she is, often times would forget her own personal needs. This would only intensify, and she would likely die from self-neglect. With Kai I gone, her daughter, Kai Serenes II, would easily be overcome with grief. She lives because of her mother, and also in part because of her father. However, the bond she shares with her mother is so great that neither one could live without the other. Zihark, Kai II’s father and the husband of Kai I, would succumb to grief. He would be one of only 2 people in my ‘family’ that would not die, but even he was prone to it.
And finally, there was Zuki. Zuki, who is always happy and can laugh with or at anything or anyone, including herself, would likely become somber and would shut herself off from happiness. Without anyone to laugh and play with, she would likely try to return to her family. However, if the Meisha family heard about Zuki’s loss, they would likely mourn along with her, and they would be sad because of the depression of their daughter. The day Zuki becomes depressed is the day that much happiness will leave the world. Zuki would be the other of the 2 who would possibly survive.
So what would happen to me—Tera Mezhiak Altina? My answer comes in many variables... Saza had previously convinced me to enjoy the life I was living. The only reason I doubted was because of who was on the other side—my mother and siblings. I was unable to see them and they were unable to see me because of a curse Clazdian set upon us, which could only be broken by his defeat. I longed to see my family again, but it had been Saza who had convinced me that my real family was all around me. If they were all gone, I would have no other reason to live. I’d end my own life so that I could be with one of my families to say the least. With me out of the way, Clazdian could return to power, which could in turn, end the world.
Saza, you did a terrible thing that day, and have put the very world we live on in mortal danger. You destroyed one of the happiest, kindest, and loving people ever to live. This decision is going to affect many more people than just her. I hope you’re happy. Congratulations on slaying the people who loved you, who supported you, and most importantly, the girl who loved you with all her heart. It is only a matter of time before she passes. Once she does, the chain reaction will begin, and your friends will be the immediate victims. Have fun living in a world dominated by Clazdian—a world without happiness or love.
“There is one thing that can be done,” I told Kai and Mikaya,
“Tell us, Tera,” Mikaya begged, “please!”
“Owing to Saza’s ever-so-convenient absence,” I said, “I would have to tamper with Sanaki’s mind—keep her alive long enough for Saza to return and make his verdict. Should he make the right decision, everything will return to normal. Should the wrong decision be made, well I’ll have a bone to pick with him before he leaves.”
On that note, Saza, you better make the right decision—and fast. My sympathy for you is gone. I’m not going to deny that I am not happy, nor will I deny that I am no longer here to help you until you make the right decision. However, because of my concern for Sanaki, I will do what it takes to keep her alive in the meantime, even if it means the loss of my own force. You better take advantage of this, unless you want your loving family to crumble; and trust me—it will. In fact, you might have noticed that it already has begun to do so...
You have been warned by a very angry supernatural,
Yet still your friend,
