how are airbenders taught airbending. like for fire you need breathing and fell the sun. earth, be strong... stuff like that..

Air benders are taught to feel and breath the wind. Inhale and take your stance, then exhale and have your breath become the wind.

maybe I can answer the qeustion.
if there will be a next avatar he'll maybe find scripts of airbenders, were it is told how to airbend.
or in taht time airbenders are found again and the problem is actually solved.
so here, 2 solutions, tehre are probably tons of more.

Sorry, i kinda forgot to check this board. To answer your question, Zalo, the avatar is connected by his previous lives. High spiritual meditation can unlock centers of the brain that contain the information of air bending. The Avatar knows how to airbend already, he just needs the right words to unlock them. Terra has a possible answer. Scrolls of airbending that can unlock certain pieces of airbending knowledge locked away in the brain. Also, if the avatar can meditate into his past lives, a sort of spiritual trigger of the avatar state but it isn't in conscious form. The avatar can meet his past lives(example: Aang meeting Roku) in his mind and can be simple taught be them. But it is best to have a real trainer who might know some new moves or techniques.
