This is a story that I threw together when I got bored.
I'm not sure what I'll do with it, 'coz it's not connected to any of my other stories. if I do continue it, it will be its own series.
Oh, and there might be some shipping in it if I do...
so yeah. here's the story. it's kinda sad so far... especially for Toph.
IMPRISONED
Zuko couldn’t believe what had just happened. Aang, Sokka, and Katara had turned against him, and now he had landed himself in a Fire Nation prison. It had all been because of a scheme that had gone wrong, and Katara had taken the accident the wrong way, for it had hurt her.
“It wasn’t my fault that she got hit by the attack,” Zuko muttered to himself, “they’re all just bitter because Aang lost the battle against the Fire Lord—and perhaps the fact that they captured Toph.”
It had been 3 years since Aang had lost this fight, and now he, Sokka, and Katara were no longer allowed to show their faces anywhere. Toph had left them to get her reputation back, and she had done that—not necessarily entirely in a good way. She was soon captured by the Fire Nation, and has been held there since. How did Zuko know this? Perhaps it was because he was thrown into the same cell as she was by sheer coincidence. Zuko didn’t say anything to Toph, but noticed that she was chained to the wall by her wrists; and yet the chains were made of metal. In fact, by all means, she could have bended herself out of there if she had wanted to. Zuko assumed there was another reason she didn’t.
He soon found out. He was removed from the cell and brutally beaten to the point where he could barely even stand up, and when he returned, any pity for him self was taken away as he watched what this now 15-year-old girl was going through. Even before he saw what they would do to her, he knew she had it rough. She had two black eyes, and burns, cuts and bruises peppered her body. Her ragged clothes were also black and charred in several places.
Zuko sat in the corner and had to do everything in his power not to make any noise as he saw what they did to her. Zuko was luckily in a dark corner out of sight, otherwise the people who came in would have recognized him. He saw it was Ty Lee and Azula. Ty Lee would appear every so often and jab Toph’s pressure points to ensure that she would never be able to bend herself out, and this was where Azula was trying to brainwash her. Zuko could tell that her attempts failed, for Toph had the same stubborn, unchanging attitude she had had before.
Zuko watched as Azula tried to force the information on the whereabouts of the rest of her former gang out of her, but no mater how much she hurt her, Toph would not respond.
“I don’t care what you do,” she snapped, “You’re not getting anything from me.”
“So be it,” said Azula coldly, “perhaps I should give you something to think about when I return.”
Azula suddenly shot a huge lightning bolt at Toph, and then she hung limp. Azula shut the door, and this was where Zuko noticed her change. Tears had formed in her eyes. Not because of what happened, but perhaps from the pain she was going through. Zuko saw her gritting her teeth and breathing tensely. He thought some things over in his head and decided not to say anything until he could come up with a tactical way of approaching Toph. He knew that her powers had been disabled, but he didn’t want her to freak out—he wanted to get her on his side. Zuko put his hand on Toph’s right shoulder as gently as he could, but even this set Toph off. She screamed and began freaking out, trying to jerk away from Zuko, but her wrists were chained, and every time she jerked with her right arm the chain would cut into her wrist. Yet as long as Zuko kept his hand there she would relentlessly try and break free. Had Zuko been evil, he would have left his hand there for amusement. However, seeing Toph’s paranoid expression and her injured form gave Zuko pity, and he took his hand off quickly.
“Toph,” he said quietly, and yet had nothing else to say. Toph stopped.
“Zuko,” she exclaimed, “is that you?”
“Yeah,” Zuko replied, “never thought we’d meet again. How do you survive that torture they put you through?”
“I survive by knowing that Aang still has hope,” Toph replied, “I might have left them, but I know they can do it without me. It’s Katara’s fault that I left.”
“What happened?” Zuko asked,
“I don’t want to talk about it,” Toph replied, “my life is bad enough as it is, okay?”
“I understand,” Zuko replied, “so... can you earthbend at all?”
“What do you think hothead?” Toph snapped, “My hands are burned, my wrists are bleeding, my arms and legs are bruised, I can barely even BREATHE, and the burning pain in my feet is driving me crazy.”
“Sorry,” Zuko replied, “I was just asking.”
Toph gritted her teeth and began breathing tensely again,
“if you have an idea on how to get out of here, tell me now. I’m not sure how much longer I can hold out.”
“I’m working on it right now, Toph.” Zuko replied, “I promise I’ll get you out of here alive.”
TO BE CONTINUED...?
