After the events of the finale, what will be the future of air benders? In an interview, M&B said that the air nomads can't come back, due to their near extinction. I say near extinction because Aang is the only one left.
What will become of their culture? Though the show is roughly for kids, it touches on serious topics like genocide and war. How is the culture to survive with only one air bender and one remaining sky bison?
In the same interview, M&B were asked what of Aang's children if he were to have children. Their response were that if Aang had children in the future, that one of them could be an air bender.
So is air bending passed through just genetics or can it be taught to others like how the first nomads learned from the sky bison?

eh, I think it might be kinda tough for people to learn it from the sky bison again, since they're more in the present day and not ancient times anymore where things are more realistic (if you don't know what I'm talking about, neither do I) I think it's more likely that Aang's kids would be airbenders, and their kids would be airbenders, so Aang could become a legend again for resurrecting the Air Nomads ;D

Yeah, as I believe it. It depends on the Air Nomad gene within Aang against the Waterbending gene (Katara) that will determine the whether the Air Nomad civilization will be reincarnated.

I think that indeed it could be taught to others from the sky bison, but it may also be passed down through genitics. we can see that Katara's mother or grandma had no waterbending abilities, yet out pops katara, ready to fight. If we all go back to 7th grade science and touch on genitics, the gene that has bending in it could be inferior to the normal, non-bending gene. Saying the normal gene is dominant if you get what i mean.

Hey i think the Avatar can give bending as he can take away bending. since the future of the Air nomads is cruicial he'll be able to give air bending to those who are worthy of if, those who are fit. At the end of the book he took away Ozai's bending.. like wise for the future of the air nomads he'll be able to give the power to air bend to a selected few who will continue the race! Go air power...

Like when I said worthy, I mean that wheel chair (sorry can't remember the name) and his friends at the Northern air temple. they were good and Aang him self was proud of them continuing with what was left of the air nation.

Um? Well.... That would be like Aang teaching sokka bending.... It's just NO.... Aang was able to take away Ozai's bending as a last ditch effort. either that or kill him... i don't think he would be able to GIVE bending unless put under the same situation
