none of the teen-aged girls in my story are whiny though =P and I've got 5 of them...
incidentally, ZIAB and I were talking about my characters as being gangsta, and I believe that Malak, Meili, Sanaki, and Kimiko were put onto that list. and Katara, being the type she is, could also easily fit there as well. don't ask why.

problem is, is that the avatar IS gangster. (yes, Zakura had a gang life.)
there are several characters that have interesting backstories...
I do know that Meili is part of a gang, and Sanaki might be too. but I finally figured out the reason why Sanaki was found by herself. (her family are all still alive)
Malak seems prone to join one too...
that all aside though, yeah, I do know that Taki in particular has an interesting past. and Koara's career is rather interesting.
sounds like it's time for a flashback spurge with Cheng, Taki, Koara, Royota, and Zakura...

well they were Order members, and she wasn't...
and she was the 4th of 5. which means she also has 4 siblings against her.
but she has her Cheng-Cheng. which means she wins. period.
