Tarrlok locks Korra in a platinum box up in the mountains, publicly claiming that Equalists abducted her. In response, Lin Beifong breaks Korra's friends out of jail and, with Tenzin's help, infiltrates the Equalist hideout. Mako is excessively worried about Korra's disappearance, leading to a fight between him and Asami. The group finds Beifong's metalbending officers but discover that Tarrlok lied. Confronting Tarrlok in City Hall, a witness exposes Tarrlok's actions and bloodbending powers, which Tarrlock uses to disable the group and escape. Meanwhile, Korra meditates and learns from Aang's past that 42 years prior, the boss of organized crime in Republic City, Yakone, was brought to trial. He was found guilty, but escaped by bloodbending the court into submission. Aang recaptured him with the use of his avatar powers, and took away his bending. Upon his return to the cabin, Tarrlok confirms that he is Yakone's son, attempting to rule Republic City from a political seat rather than through crime. His escape is thwarted by the Equalists, as his bloodbending proves ineffective against Amon. Tarrlok's bending is taken by Amon, but Korra escapes. Naga finds her and brings her back to her friends.
