Bolin, Asami, and Iroh are captured by Hiroshi Sato and the Equalists, but are rescued by Naga. While Asami and Bolin fight Hiroshi and his mecha-tanks, Iroh destroys the Equalist bombers. Korra and Mako confront Amon at an Equalist rally, and expose him as a bender. Amon denies it, shows the crowd his scarred face, and reveals that he has captured Tenzin and his family. Korra and Mako free them, but Amon follows and overpowers Mako and Korra using bloodbending. Amon removes Korra's bending. Mako recovers enough to help her flee, but Amon chases them down again and is about to destroy both of them when Korra finally air bends. Amon falls into the sea, and his escape unmasks him publicly as a waterbender. He flees Republic City, along with Tarrlok. Tarrlok pretends to go along with him, but uses an Equalist lightning glove to blow up the motor boat, with them both still in it. At the South Pole, Katara is unable to heal Korra's severance from water, earth, and fire. Mako tells Korra he loves her but she runs away, upset at no longer being the Avatar. As Korra sits weeping at a cliff's edge, Aang and other Avatars finally appear to her. Aang restores her connection. Korra tells Mako she loves him too, and Korra enters the Avatar State to restore Beifong's bending abilities.
