yeah... let the GMs approve them sounds good... I mean, I don't like the "you have 50 points distribute them as you will" because that makes everyoone still a carbon copy in essence. some characters might be better than others, just like in video games, RPGs, and even the real world, but that's okay.
the difference is, there's not gonna be any broken/overpowered characters, 'coz there will be GMs to moderate that.
oh, and before I even think of supporting Drizzt as a GM, I want to see a sample of his works, whether it be fanfics or RPGs... makes no diff to me. just want to make sure he's good. ~Sanaki~

all caught up, wow, guys have discussed a lot, i'll throw my 2 cents in
combat: RPGer's names there attacks and how much damage they do for a hit, effects, then GM has a deck of cards, if a red, attack hits. If black, attack misses. If the card is an ace, no matter what color, added damage. If card is a 2, attack loses power.
but then we add something like this into it
()defense-()attack ()dodge-()block-()interruption
so lets say that you see an in coming attack and decide to chose defense and block denfese->block: the attack is brought down some defense-> dodge: if card is lower or is 5, then attack miss defense-> interruption: if card is a black card, then the attacker is left open
something like that

I rather stick to dice and coins than cards. But you have a good idea.
If you want to suggest more hold that thought till more people get on and we continue discussing.

Ok ill work on an example for you. ill put it up later. Tera i see what you mean but if some people are more powerfull than others, people might start complaining the heck out of stuff. i know this from D&D. my DM got prety ticked when we all started telling him that this was too hard, this guy is too powerfull and we'll never get past this. I COMPLETLY agree with you about not making carbon copies, we will just need a way for this to work out.

Me and Tera decided to put up a balanced system for that particular problem Drizzt. I suggest we put in these stats:
-Stamina -Agility -Bending AP -Weapon AP (We can combine both Bending and Weapon AP if needed) -Defense
Definitions:
Stamina: How much HP one will have in their character.
Agility: Agility will have 2 stats: Crit Chance and Miss Chance. More agility better miss or crit chance.
Bending AP (Bending Attack Power): How much damage they will have for bending.
Weapon AP (Weapon Attack Power): How much damage they will have for weapons/fist.
Defense: How much defense points you have to dumb down your opponents attack damage. ______________________________________________________
Each person will start out with 0 on all stats. And when they make their character they will have 75 stat points on making their character. We'll have caps on the stats when they put more of these stat points into the stat. ______________________________________________________ Every character will have 1k or 10k health or our chosen number for health. We don't want to make the battle be too long or it'll just be a snooze fest we want it to be a lil short yes. We can't have like 4 hour battles it'll just get boring. Imo, We should have 8k-10khp and dice will roll 1-6 1=100 damage 6= 600 damage Crit=900. All players will use all their stat points to determine their stats. (If they don't use all of them. then.....idk what to say to them) Example with one of my characters to see on what it looks like.
Each point will=+20hp, +10AP, +10DP. Every 5 points on Agility= +1 crit, +1 miss chance.
(I don't want to go into much numbers with crit and miss. That will make this RPG turn into a math class. And no it hasn't turned into a math class. It's called adding numbers in real life).
Volke: Stats -Stamina: 18( Means my hp goes up by +380hp) -Agility: 20 (Means Crit and miss chance goes up by +4) -Bending AP: 0 -Weapon AP: 21 (Means he has +210AP) -Defense: 15 (He has +150DP)
That means Volke has: 10,380hp AP: 210 DP: 150 Total Stat points used: 75
Easy isn't? Seriously if you can't add or multiple by tens and fives plz go back to 3rd grade. It get any easier than what I just explain. I don't want to dumb it down so much and add numerous paragraphs explaining on what a dice roll is. Seriously people common sense. If you're too lazy to do even 3rd grade math then I suggest you quit your RPG dreams. I bet you that most of the RPG on the net use this system. Don't care if you're too lazy to even count. You have a calculator on your computer for god's sake.
I think this system is better than having Billy the Fire bending ninja Avatar just miss everything, and his hits always land and he can do w/e he wants vs. Dave the retarded Archer that shoots 100 arrows per second and has a atomic bomb under his belt.
We'll discuss about how we will work with Crit and Miss chance. Really players shouldn't worry about the numbers with that. The GMs will have to worry about that. ______________________________________________________ I think this will be one of the best ways to do this to decided combat going Drizzt, Tera, and my way. Bring uniqueness to the character and brings it to good RPG normal type system. Really this isn't hard to follow. I made it incredibly easy to understand. This is also VERY extremely common in roleplaying video games. Not the dice rolling but the stat points.

i understand the upgrading but i still think that uses cards would be better, whatever, i guess i say more what i was think when i have more time on my hands

Cards will take too much time. Rolling 1 dice and flipping one coin is faster. But I'll let you explain how your card idea will work.
