This is my first fanfiction I really wanted to post this quickly so I'm going to edit it so if you have any suggestions you can tell me. I just did it for fun and typed it I don't know. It's not really that good yet.

Aang defeated the firelord by using spirit bending and his avatar state.
This takes place at about a week after Sozin’s Comet.

Katara, Toph and Sokka were sitting down in the middle of a dry sandy desert. Finally Katara said aloud, “I can’t believe you people why can’t we look for Aang now?!” Katara had an almost sadden expression on her face that turned into a dark anger. Sokka said with a harsh tone, “Are you crazy Katara he ruined everything, he killed Suki how could Aang do such a thing. And on top of that Katara everything was fine after the attack but than he just flies away not even saying good bye or anything at all and just leaves us all in the middle of this dessert!!!!!!!!!” “Yeah and I can’t even see anything in this desert”, Toph added. There must be a reason why he did…”What, to leave us out here in the middle of a desert”, Sokka interrupted. “But that was nothing Katara, he almost killed you, all of us!!!!!” Sokka said. “But he was in the avatar state Sokka he couldn’t control it!!!!” “She does have a point there”, Toph said. Sokka yelled “Whatever that doesn’t matter he still betrayed us and I must find him and….. “SOKKA you don’t mean what you are saying you don’t even know that he killed Suki”, Katara said. “Say what you want Katara…. Sokka mumbled. Sokka began to cry trying to hold it back but, he couldn’t.

Aang landed with a loud thump at the Eastern Air Temple where the guru was located. He searched around trying to find him but, that was the least of his worries. He remembered that Sokka thought he killed Suki. He cringed at the thought of it. He regretted not telling Sokka that he redirected the lightening from Ozai and it missed her and how he sent a current with his water bending while suki was on a boat to Ember Island. It was just too dangerous to let her fight he had to make the strongest current so Suki wouldn’t try to swim against. He needed the guru to help him control his powers he almost killed his friends. “Everyone thinks I’m a monster, EVERYONE THINKS I’M GOING TO KILL THEM!!!”, Aang said to himself. He constantly kept thinking about all the events that had occurred but than suddenly he heard a familiar voice. “Who’s there?”, the voice said. “I’m the avatar”, Aang said. Aang turned around he found the guru. “I need your help”, aang said desperately. “I can see that that”, the guru said wisely. “You see I got my avatar state back and I learned this new type of bending called spirit bending and I....”Do you want me to help you with your control”, said the guru.
“Yes”, said Aang. “I can see that you have much control with your powers, but anyone could see that you are deeply depressed”, said the guru. Well, you could say that see I left my friends in the middle of the dessert while we were heading for the Earth Kingdom and well I kind of freaked out and………[/color][/b]

"well you see umm.....well...I kind of went in the avatar state and I just felt like I had no control over but, than again I did I don't I can't explain it exactly", aang said "Then all I remember after that is that we were all on the desert and I left because, well, I didn't want them to get hurt again but, I guess I didn't think clearly because now they are stuck in the middle of the desert and it's all my fault I just flew off without saying goodbye and telling them where I was going. I didn't think about what I was doing. Since Appa followed me they can't go back on him and fly away. I still didn't get chance to explain anything about Suki to Sokka and they all think I killed a people but, I didn't, I didn't kill anyone not even The Firelord. I just have no idea what to do......"Aang, calm down", said the guru. Aang realized that his arrows were glowing and slowly calmed down. "Mmmmmm, I think you have trouble with controlling yourself when it comes to getting into the avatar state you must learn to not let yourself accidental go into the avatar state", the guru said. "That's what I need your help with", Aang said. "I think the best thing for you is to reopen your chakras", said the guru. "By the way how did you open that last chakra, wasn't it locked", said the guru. "I don't know I just thought of Katara", said Aang.

"He not only killed my Suki, he killed other people", Sokka said. "You don't know that Sokka, you didn't see the whole thing, he didn't even get a chance to explain", Katara said. Sokka said you don't know that Katara, you don't that, he could have been the avatar state and had no control over it because of that new bending he learned. What was that oh yeah spirit bending did you see him use that on the Firelord he obviously had no control I mean"...."Sokka, you don't know what happened", Katara said. Katara began to cry she couldn't take the pressure. How could she tell Sokka about what happened that night. She thought she was doing the right thing. "Katara, I'm sorry but, I feel like he betrayed us", Sokka said. "He didn't I know he didn't", Katara said. "You might be right Katara but, I just am not so sure I don't want to have any false hope", Sokka said. Katara said,"I, I'm sorry I just know Aang and you all do too. "Yeah, we all know twinkle toes wouldn't betray us like that", said Toph. "Anyway I'm just tired of sitting around here doing nothing I think we can do at least something we should at least try to find Aang or maybe he's looking for us. You both should just stop fighting and get a move on", Toph said. "Toph's right if we are planning to survive than we better get a move on", Katara said. "I just want to say one thing about the night before Sozin's Comet. I just thought.........

.....I was doing the right thing", Katara said. "What do you mean Katara", Toph asked with curiosity. "Well you see, uh, never mind it doesn't matter", Katara said. "Come Katara its okay, please tell us", Sokka said. "Well, Aang and I were at the beach and I was talking to him about the Comet, how I know he'll do fine and than he kissed me on the lips. I never told you before but, I really like Aang. I thought by telling him he had to focus on other things was to help him. I didn't want his mind on other things but, I guess well that wasn’t I should have thought about it more I don’t know”, Katara said her voice sounded as if she had a loss of all hope. “What do you mean Katara how is that related to any of this”, Toph said with an almost worried but, curious face. “Well, I think that is why he didn’t act like himself exactly during the attack but, I know he didn’t do any harm to Suki or the others”, Katara said knowingly. “Wait a minute Katara you like Aang”, Sokka said surprisingly. “Yes”, Katara whispered. Katara’s face turned bright red and she couldn’t help it putting up a light smile. “No wonder every time he saw you he looked as if he was going to cry”, Sokka said. “Yeah, but, he defeated the firelord”, Katara said. “Well your right about that”, Toph said. “I don’t know I just well I think Aang still betrayed us, I will make sure he doesn’t hurt us”, Sokka said darkly. “Let’s just keep moving. We are never coming out of here if we don’t so come on we might find some sand benders or something”, said Toph.

“Ah, I can see your love for her is great”, the guru said. “Heh heh heh, yeah”, Aang said blushing. The guru smiled. “Let’s start opening those chakras”, the guru said. It was pretty much the same as before but, when it came to the 7th it was a little different. This time he got to see again himself open the 7th chakra. “Well there is one more thing”, the guru said. “What’s that”, Aang said. “I need you to think of Katara when ever you go in the avatar state she seems to play a big role for some reason, heh heh”, the guru said. “Okay”, Aang said. “There’s one thing though, Katara doesn’t like me”, Aang said with the saddest look on his face. Aang began to sob. “How are you so sure of it Aang you must find out, I’m sure she feels the same about you don’t loose hope”, the guru said. “Thanks”, Aang said while wiping off his tears. “I think you know what you should do now Aang”, the guru said. “I do know what I should do”, Aang said. Appa left with Momo to the Earth Kingdom so Aang flew into the sky faster than usual for the quest to find his friends. He knew it was a vast desert but he knew eventually he would find them. He searched and searched but, everything looked the same just piles and piles of sand stretching for miles it seemed endless. Than he saw something, it was moving in the distance, he shot through the sky to get a closer look. He landed on the spot he saw it but, all it was, was the reflection of the sun on the sand that seemed to flicker at an angle. Aang began to loose hope but than he remembered what the guru said. He kept searching but....[/color]

“LOOK over there it looks like an oasis”, Sokka said. “What are you waiting for lets go”, Katara said. They cooled off and rehydrated themselves. “I guess we could hang out here for a while”, Sokka said. They fell asleep in the hot desert sand. “What that noise”, Toph said. There was a loud swift noise that seemed to be coming for them. Katara looked up and saw sand benders. “Look sand benders maybe they can get us out of here”, Katara said. Katara quickly ran up. “Hello”, Katara said. They stopped. “Hello, there who are you”, one of them said. “We have ended up in the desert and we are lost our destination is the Earth Kingdom”, Katara explained. Katara looked at them closer they looked familiar. They looked back at the gaang too, they remembered. It was the Homi tribe they stole Appa. “Wait a minute you kids look familiar. Mmmmm hey you’re the avatar’s friends, he ruined our all of our sand bender ships it took us forever to fix those”, one of the sand bender’s said. “Why should we help you, all your friend did was destroy our stuff. Besides if we found he was around we would need to run”, one of them said. “Yeah, I heard he learned this thing called spirit bending”, one of them said. “He wouldn’t hurt even if he was here”, Katara said angrily. “Please we need your help”, Katara said. “Well we can’t help you go to the Earth Kingdom but, you can come with us for a while and maybe we can figure out a deal”, one of them said. The three agreed and jumped on the sand bender ship. They sailed off.
The three stayed with them and helped them build more sand bender ships. This went along for about a year. Aang couldn’t find them and decided that they might be at the Earth Kingdom and flew to ba sing se. He found they were not there and decided to help with the rebuilding of the city. The Earth King decided for Aang to be in main control over the city so Aang stayed in the royal palace.
One day he woke up and for some reason he could not stop thinking about his friends, correction family, Katara, Toph, and Sokka. He began his search once more. He began his search but he remembered something. The sand benders they could be with them. He looked where he thought sand benders could be.
Katara was bending some water from an oasis into a bowl. She couldn’t stop thinking of Aang. Sokka still thought Aang betrayed them but, Katara somehow knew he didn’t. They could here a loud noise that almost sounded like a tornado. They looked up it was Aang.
Aang landed with a loud thump and large impact of Earth bending on the ground. It was hard to recognize him at first. This time he looked much more powerful like the avatar but still the sweet Aang he will always be. He looked as if he grew a foot he was just as tall as Sokka (Maybe an inch taller heheh) and about a half foot (or more heheh) taller than Katara. Katara looked him in a way because she could tell he had been working out heh heh. Sokka looked at him in suspicion almost like he was ready to fight. Sokka took his sword out as a threat to Aang. Aang didn’t flinch he knew even if Sokka was going to fight him that Sokka would be no match for him. Aang said, “I just want to”…. “Stay back I’m warning you”, Sokka threatened. Aang walked closer. “My avatar state is stable now I have complete control I just want to talk “, Aang said. Sokka charged for Aang. Aang pleaded for him to stop and promised that he would not hurt him if he stopped. Although, Aang freaked and Aang used a swift of his hand which brought Sokka shooting 50 feet up and land hard on the ground. Aang forgot how powerful his bending reflexes were he didn’t mean to do it, it just was a natural instinct. “SOKKA”, Katara said. “Katara, I didn’t mean to he was charging for me it wasn’t my fault”, Aang said. Sokka landed in this soft sand pit. “Sokka your okay”, Katara said. I told you Katara he’s a traitor. “Well, we might as well he could kill if we don’t”, Sokka said. “Sokka, stop it”, Katara said. “Okay, let’s here what you have to say”, Sokka said. “First of all I want to make myself clear, I’m sorry for everything. I can’t believe I let this happen. Sokka I didn’t kill Suki what you saw was me redirecting the lightening Ozai shot at her and shooting it in the sky, Ozai made the strike I redirected it. Everything was so dangerous out there. She landed on a boat and I bended a current for the boat to follow to the next beach like Ember Island. I didn’t kill anyone not even Ozai. I used sprit bending to take Ozai’s bending ability away for good. Those boats were safely moved by the same current I sent Suki on no one drowned they are all at Ember Island. I didn’t mean to leave you in the desert but I almost killed you guys with the avatar state. Like I was just thinking of all the events that happened so I searched for help as soon as I could maybe a little too soon. I regret that I didn’t even get to say good bye to you when I left. And Katara I really like you. I know that doesn’t mean you also like me but, I just wanted to get that out of my head”, Aang said. Katara ran up to him and kissed him on the lips. Aang kissed her back. They both blushed. “Aang I didn’t know just the way things seemed to be I just thought that you betrayed us I’m so sorry”, Sokka said. “I’m sorry too twinkle toes”, Toph said. “Is that the.......

.......AVATAR. What is he doing here? He's going to kill us, RUN", one of the sand benders. He was tall but slender about in his twenties. "No I'm not please wait, I just want to talk to you", Aang said. "Katara, Toph, Sokka what are you waiting for run", one of the sand benders said. "NO, he's not going to hurt us its fine", Katara said. "Well, if your not going to run I will than", the sand bender said. "Wait, I'm not going to do anything I just.....” Aang said. There was no point the sandbenders all took off on their sand bender sailors. Aang had a sad disappointed look on his face. "Aang, I have a question. Where have you been the past year? I mean didn't you at least look for us? Who gave you the help for your avatar state? How do we know that you are telling the truth? I mean I’m still sorry but, Aang it just has been so long”, Sokka said. Aang explained to Sokka about where he has been and the fact that he would search everyday. He explained that he got his help from the guru that helped with the avatar state before. He also explained that he can bring them to Ember Island and prove to Sokka that he was telling the truth. “Well than how are we supposed to get out of this desert”, Katara said. “I can sail one of the sandbender’s sail and make it go faster with airbending”, Aang said. They jumped up on it with a thump. “I know exactly where to go. Hold on tight”, Aang said. The sail seemed to go supersonic because if you didn’t hold tight you would surely fall off. In just 20 minutes they were out of the desert. Aang told the Earth King about how he was going to Ember Island. Aang found Appa and momo. They hopped on Appa, than a yip yip from Aang and they were off. They easily flew past the desert. They landed where there was a waterfall a perfect spot to rest for the night. “Who’s there", a voice said. The gaang woke up and heard the voice. "Who are you", Aang said. "I'm traverler I was passing by here to rest for the night. Ah, I know who you are. You're the avatar", the voice said. "Yeah he's the avatar", Sokka said. "So, where are you traveling to", Katara asked. "I'm going to ba sing se. I heard the avatar was there. I needed to ask him something but I guess I really don't have to travel that far since your here. My name is Ursa", the voice said. "Ursa? Wait, are you Zuko's mother", Katara said. The gaang sat up and saw that it was what Zuko had descriped about his mom. "Yes! How did you know that", Ursa said. "Zuko taught me firebending. We know Zuko he told us about you", Aang said. "Than I assume you know where he is", Ursa said. "Yeah we do, he's the firelord", Sokka said. "Oh, that's great, but Avatar I have some news I need to talk to you about", Ursa said. "What do you mean", Aang said. "Well, I know you did a good thing by defeating Ozai but, there is one problem. There are still fire nation colonies. They still control some villages. I have been living in one myself when I escaped......

Hey, I'm not done reading all of this yet but one suggestion... when typing all of that dialogue, instead of typing this:

By doing this its easier to read and distinguish who is talking.

“....I was welcomed here but, now that the fire nation colonies are still here it’s as if the war isn’t over. I need your help avatar we need to get some sense into these people that the war is over and the firelord is defeated! ”, Ursa said. Aang’s eyes were full of shock and disbelief. How could he not know such a thing how could he be so blind? He thought to himself. “I had no idea, I didn’t realize that! How could I not know this…?” Aang said. “Avatar no one expected this to happen it’s not your fault!” Ursa said. She had an almost pitied look towards the avatar although she knew that it wouldn’t be hard for him. I mean he already learned all the elements, control of the avatar state and he learned spiritbending. She thought to herself. “Avatar you know you can do this, you have learned everything you need to have learned as the Avatar!” Ursa said. Aang knew that was true. He couldn’t argue against that logic even as modest as he was but, he just couldn’t believe it. He thought all this time that defeating the firelord would solve all of his…the world’s problems. He knew he had to help. “Okay! I’ll do it! Where is this village exactly?” Aang said. Aang and Ursa walked slowly back to the group. You could hear the sound of the wind blowing past them as they walked in an almost silent but simultaneous walk. Right when the group saw their faces they knew something was wrong. “Aang, what’s the matter?”, Katara said “Aang what happened?” Toph said. Katara nudged Sokka in the arm. Rubbing his arm while looking at Katara with angered eyes Sokka said, “What’s wrong?” Aang and Ursa explained the situation to them. “There is one more thing.”, Ursa said. “What’s that?” The gaang said concurrently. “The Avatar must do it alone. I think it is just a matter of cooperation with them. I think he was meant to. I think it’s just too….” Ursa said. “No! Aang is not doing this alone! He can’t do it alone, HE JUST CAN’T!!!!” Katara said. Katara had an angered and but scared look on her face. She thought about what Ursa said. Was he really meant to do this on his own? What did she mean by a matter of cooperation and was she right about the fact that Aang was meant to do it. “Katara, it’s his duty as the Avatar. He must do this on his own. You know he can.”, Ursa said. “But…..he doesn’t have to do it on his own. Why should he? If he can have help why should he not have it?”, Katara said almost in tears. “We, can’t loose him again….” Katara mumbled with all her might holding back her tears. “Katara I think the Avatar knows why”, Ursa said. Katara looked at Aang. “I understand but, I’ll, I mean we’ll be there for you Aang.” Katara said. “Aang we got your back!” Toph said. “Aang you can count on that!” Sokka said. “You’re going to need some sleep for tomorrow.” Ursa said. Ursa and the rest of the gaang set their camp up and fell asleep.

Aang’s Dream:
He couldn’t stop thinking about what happened during Sozin’s Comet. Did Suki really make it too any Island? He remembered creating a current towards Ember Island but, it was just too hard to remember. He remembered when he was in the avatar state. He felt as though he had all the power of the universe in his hands but, some how managed to control it all. The difference that time was that he could control it. He saw himself; he shivered at the image of that but than relaxed. He suddenly felt comforted knowing he had such a power. He knew that he never really had to let go of Katara he just had to learn to let go of her. He craved her presence more than ever. Once he looked into her eyes he felt all of his problems vanish into thin air as if they never existed. He continued to dream of Katara but, than he wondered about the others. Where could they be he thought? I had to tell Sokka something but he knew he wasn’t that sure on where Suki and the others were. He completely forgot about what Ursa said during his long but peaceful sleep.

“We made it!” Suki said. She was with the other Kyoshi warriors, Hakoda………
