And of course, I only overpowered him a little... lol. Anough to fit the story...
And, this being an Avatar fanfic, I think it makes sense. I mean, Sokka can't even Bend, and he's what, 14? And yet, he survives fighting adults who have the ability to shoot fire out of their freaking hands.
It's all about being a main character. As long as you get enough screen time, you're damn near invulnerable. Power to the screen time!
(Even in SSBB this is evident. The only way to die is to leave the screen, lol.)

well to be perfectly honest, that was another aspect about avatar that I didn't like. (oh and Sokka's 15 BTW)
which is why I don't do that in fanfics. =P
although... I do believe a couple of younger characters will appear in mine, but I'm not sure how big their roles are gonna be.
and Smash Bros. kinda does that, but it's equalized by bosses who don't even flinch at even the most powerful move... lol

Yeah, lol. But still, as it's an Avatar fic, I figure it's acceptable to have another kick-ass teen, lol. Of course, even the main non-Benders could probably kick Vic's ass...
Jet and Sokka, for example.
But seeing as Avatar has Rambo syndrome, any named character can take out any nameless henchman without taking a hit. Then make a humourous quip.
Although, I allow my character to get hurt... bad. Reduces the Rambo-ness... I mean, Stu-ness. Lol.

and of course, she takes tons of hits, she's just good at shaking them off...
I mean, even her own allies attack her (mostly out of frustration for her lack of concern), so yeah. lol

But yeah, getting hit is neccesary. And of course, it can't always leave a manly scar right across your eye, lol. Meaningless injuries have to occur as well.

I mean, I'm not talking papercuts, of course... but some semi-serious, non live threatening but pretty bad injuries that will fully heal with time always help make a hero less sue-ish.

well actually, one of the questions on that sueness test was
"does your character get into a lot of fights but doesn't have very many scars to show for it?"
so getting marks might be the way out of that one...
