Chapter 12:
My father was amazed at the balloon. Overly amazed if you ask me. I had been told many times over and over that he had made the original one and flown it. At least he had found something to keep him occupied. I was pretty bored to tell you the truth. I looked over at Toph. She looked even more bored then I was.
“I forgot how boring it was to fly” she said as Sokka was telling us the same story for the 5th time.
“Shush, Toph I was talking.” My father said sounding irritated.
“We all know your story” Toph said.
“Aang and Ozana might not.” He countered.
“Actually I know it quite well thank you” Aang said.
“Yeah, just stop talking” I added.
“Fine.” he said going into a corner. “I just wish I had my sword.” he added.
“We’ll get you another sword.” I said to him.
“This was a special sword, made from a meteorite” he said.
“Yeah I wish I had my bracelet.” Toph said. I felt the one on my arm. It came to me, the runaway and the blind bandit are the same person. For one second I let my emotions get the best of me.
“I don’t know what to do about getting your sword Sokka” I said cutting off Katara. Then said to Toph, “but I know where your bracelet is Toph”
“Where is it?” she asked excitedly.
“Right here” I said giving it to her.
“My bracelet!” she yelled. “Good bye being bored.”
All was silent for a few minutes, then Katara said, “I miss Aang.” we all looked at her…except for Toph.
“We all miss Aang” Sokka said.
“I don’t” I said.
“WHAT!?” Katara asked.
“He was against the nation” I said realizing what had slipped out of my mouth.
“HE WAS DOING SOMETHING FOR THE GREATER GOOD.” Katara yelled.
“What good did it actually do?” I asked trying to make up for my mistake. They almost found out whose side I was on
All was silent. They knew I was right.
“How could you be for the fire nation?” Aang asked. “It killed my father and many others.”
I needed a way out of this. Toph took my silence as an answer.
“Are they still teaching you that” she put on a fake voice and said, “The fire nation is in a time of prosperity and is sharing it with the world. It is our right and privilege as a nation to make sure the world prospers”
“NO” I said, even though that is what they were telling us. I cursed myself for saying that. I looked over the edge of the balloon to get away from everyone’s looks. We were over water now, that would have been good except there was a storm coming. It wasn’t just any storm though, it was a hurricane. What were we going to do now?

OOOOH, a hurricane, sounds like fun. Hopefully this time the avatar won't get stuck in an iceburg for 100 years.

chapter 13:
“Look a hurricane” I said to them, everyone except Toph looked over the side of the balloon.
“Oh no” Katara mumbled to herself.
“WHAT DO WE DO?” Aang yelled.
“Katara, do you think you could bend the clouds away from us?” I asked right as my father was about to speak.
“Yes” she said.
“Aang how much air can you bend?” I asked him.
“Pretty much none.” he said back.
“Well, um, bend all that you can towards that cloud over there.” I said to him. I knew he probably wasn’t going to do anything, I just liked bossing people around.
“Dad,” I said to him.
“Yes?” he asked sounding a little sad.
“I need you to steer the Balloon.” I said to him
“Okay.” he said.
“Toph,” I said.
“What?!” she asked sort of surprised.
“I understand, that you can measure heartbeats?” I said.
“Yeah, so?” she asked.
“As we get higher it gets harder to breath. I passed out the last time I got high enough. I need you to measure everyone’s heart rate to make sure we don’t pass out.” I said to her. Then I got into my station and added, “I am going to blow as much fire as I can to get us as high as we can in the next couple minutes.” I said. “GO”
Everyone went to their respective jobs. It looked like we were going to make it, unfortunately the cloud was higher then I expected. We were caught in the middle of it and I was struggling to keep the fire going. Then I smelt the opening of ozone, the positive and negative charges separating. I knew lightning was going to happen at any moment.
I stopped fire bending, as it struck, I shot lightning at the lightning hoping to deter it. The fire went out, the lightning was strengthened and struck us. We were falling closer and closer to the water. ’oh no’ was my only thought.
not the happyest thing i have written, but it'll do.

Yes, very dramatic.
Tried to stop lightining with more lightning, didn't work.
Looks like they're going down.
Thumbs up! (And a bit of Karma, shhh)

Chapter 14:
There was no time to think only time to react, because within minutes we were about a mile from the water. I tried to remember what katara had been doing, nothing really came to mind because I hadn’t been watching.
Half a mile from water. I knew (if nothing was broken by the time we hit the water) I would at least survive, because I could swim. My father was from the south pole and could probably swim along with katara who was a water bender. Unfortunately she was unconscious. Aang and toph probably could not swim.
Feet from the surface I tried to bend the water. Nothing happened and we all hit. I went under along with everyone else. There was no way I was going to survive this. I closed my eyes and waited for the end.
Something came over me, I was thrown from my body as if I was going into the spirit world. The next thing I knew it was night time and I was on land coughing with Katara standing over me and sokka at my side. Aang was looking strait at me. He was sitting at my feet. Toph was playing with the bracelet I had given her slightly off to Sokka’s side.
“She’s awake.” Aang yelled.
“no, duh” I tried to say, but all that cam out was a moan.
“Stay still Ozana” Katara said, “I’m trying to heal you.” I sat there waiting for pain to go away. Until Toph said.
“So how was your first trip to the Avatar state?” she asked. I couldn’t believe it, I had been in the avatar state and hadn’t even known it.
“You saved us all,” Sokka said.
“it was awesome!” Aang said excitedly, “First you put a huge air bubble around us, then you brought us above the surface and made a huge tidal wave. Then like an hour later you stopped at this island.” he said.
My head hurt, I wanted everyone to be quiet, even though I did appreciate knowing what I did in the avatar state, and knowing what power I held. I just wanted the pain in my body and head to go away.
“Will everyone just shut up?” I asked but again just a moan.
“What hurts?” Katara asked.
“Everything” I said slowly as not to just moan this time.
“Sit still Ozana, everyone else just give her some space. Back off.” everyone went over to a fire. They must have already made camp. This was going to be a long night. I was right when I said today would be a bad day. Agni! What did I do to deserve this?

CH. 15
Healing, I realized, was a slow and painful process. In all of the text books, when they talked about healing they were always like, “And General Iroh went in for healing after the battle of so and so. He was ready for another round.” they never realy said how long it took, or how painful it was.
“Not that I don’t really appreciate what your doing and all, but could you stop? It really hurts.” I said trying not to sound to much in pain and irritated.
“Your almost healed” was her reply, “What you did was really stupid Ozana” she added. No one had told me that ever before. It was always, ‘that was an enriching experience. What lesson did you learn,’ not the small reprimand of ‘that was stupid’ I was taken aback by this.
“It wasn’t stupid I was trying to save us.” I was grateful that I could talk normally instead of having to talk slowly like before.
“in what way does shooting lightning at lightning going to save us?” she asked.
“The electromagnetic force in my lightning would deter against the other one’s electromagnetic force causing them to go in opposite directions.” I said exactly what I had been thinking at the time and now realized that it was stupid. My lightning was going to a positive place and the other one was negative, so they would combine.
“Apparently not” Katara said. She obviously hadn’t understood what I had said.
“Well hey, you went unconscious.” I said. Then moaned a little from the sensitive spot she had just hit. “how did I get beat up this badly?” I asked.
“I think when the lightning collided you were still connected to it, so when it blew up you were hurt from it, not to mention you were the one nearest to the fuel tank when it blew up.” I hadn’t even remembered that part.
“Couldn’t you heal me tomorrow?” I asked. Her face went stony.
“I would rather heal you today.” she said, trying to sound like her cheery self.
“Well I think I could make it through the night.” I said.
“I’m almost done” she said.
“You said that like 5 minutes ago, and your still not done. How long do you think it will take?” I asked.
“Not to much longer. Probably a minute or two” she said.
“okay I guess I could wait that long. But hurry up peasant.” It slipped out.
“What did you just call me?” she asked and stopped healing me. It hurt even more then when she was.
“I’m sorry, it just slipped out. Come on it’s been like a day since I got the respect talk. You don’t think it only takes a day to abolish a lifetime of bad habits do you?” I asked, trying to get her to heal me. She started again. I thanked Agni and was quiet for the rest of the session.
When I was allowed to stand up, I thanked her heavily then went over to the camp fire. For some reason it seemed alien to me. I sat by it and breathed in deeply making it flare up. Then breathed out slowly making it slowly go back to how it was originally. Why would it all of the sudden seem like such an outsider. Like an enemy or at least a rival. The answer would come in the morning.

I liked it... it's true though. Healing doesn't just happen in a few minutes (unless you're a member of the Avatar Fight Club). it does take a long time. ~Iroh~

Yeah, I still have a scar going vertically over my right eye and cheek.
You can barely see it now, but years ago, my brother got me with his fingernails. It hurt, and took a while to heal, can still see the scar...
Anyway, still a good story!
Must make sure to keep checking back here, otherwise I might miss something!

And then of course, there are some scars that won't heal... It reminds me of a tribe of people I have in my novel called the Children of the Mark. This race, 90% of which is female, is named such because of a huge red mark that goes over one of their eyes. Oh and their eyes are pure red too. The mark looks and feels like a scar, but is in reality just a birthmark--that hurts when touched.
Of course, that's all off-topic, so let's resume normal business... ~Ty Lee~
