I don't think that air benders can bend time too. It is not about air.

I can't think of how that would be possible at all without the help of the supernatural (SPIRITS).
All you really need are hard mathematics to predict the future.

The Fortuneteller could see the future, so I think that she has some avatar-like connection to some sort of "Time-Spirit" or something.
In the real (non-avatar) world, time travel is a bad idea.
Going forward is pointless, whilst going backwards is devastating.
If you went back to change something, then changed it, then you wouldn't go back to change it because it didn't need changing, which would cancel out the fact that you never changed it, which would make you go back and change it again.
Scary.

Time bending would be impossible by any of the bending arts as we know it, as to time bend in theory, for our world, would require distorting space and thus travelling in time, like how if you run you take less time to get somewhere, so if you move at some insane speed, technically no time would pass at all, or you would go backward in time.
However, I think that can indeed time travel, as they are unaffected by aging and thus, not affected by time so they must have a subconscious time barrier which is time bending.

These are interesting thoughts, yet they are rather pseudo-scientific. I don't believe in ATLA-Timetraveling nor would i support it - it would be far too powerful and, even worse, it would lessen the drama and graveness of all the things happening in the series, cause no matter how bad anything gets, there would always be some kind of "reset button".

time isn't an element, so how could the people of avatar control it? Earth, fire, water, and air aren't elements either. Earth is composed of varying elements, water is a compound, fire is a chemical reaction, and air is again, a mixture of varying elements. And as far as time bending goes, it wont happen, but time travel is almost possible. If anyone (using bending of course) was to travel at the speed of light (any faster is physically impossible) then time for them would stop. You can use your imagination on how they would do this, if they could at all, but if you can reach speeds very close to the speed of light or up to it, time slows down and actually stops. Not bent, but manipulated which counts for something. Going forward in time would mean that you have to go faster than the speed of light, which again is impossible.

Time is an illusion. Created a perception of thoughts so that man could follow the ways of the sun & moon, thus allowing for a set amount of numbers to follow. There is no way to bend time, to bend time would mean to stop the earth. Even if it was possible, you could only stop the earths tilt axis or rotation, which would just leave sun light on one side and darkness on the other.

if you take a look at some of the episodes with spirits, they already have a form of time bending. they could show ang (( or aang, never sure on spelling )) different moments from the past OR the future. so the power exsits, and if it was introduced in the show, it could probably only be used by spirits in the spirit world or the avatar in the avatar state. and, as we have seen b4, ang could be pushed out by used a LOT of energy, and time bending at his young age would probably be only a few minutes, and would almost immidetly push him out, so insome cases it would be handy, but most of the time, it would require to much energy to be useful

I wasn't talking about elements from the periodic table!

no i dont think so.. that wouldnt make sense.. and if there was timebending i think aang would of used it already to go back in time to redo the war with the fire lord.. and if there was everything in war that went wrong would just be repeated and redone to win.. DUH!
