We know that air benders are known for their spirituality, and sense of humor. but... all I've seen from them are male air benders. no other nation has a single sex bending rule... so is it that the air benders view females as inadequate for training when it comes to air bending? or is it that there is just no female air benders?

She was the THE AVATAR. That means she can bend both. She is a fire bender, a water bender, an earth bender, and an air bender.

They were monks. Women would distract the young monks from there training. |

if someone knows all the elements, and can use them, its called the avatar isnt it? there were probably hundreds of female avatars so yes, female airbenders were there ;D
and if greenearth wants to say otherwise again, it was shown in 'appa's lost days' in a flashback a women that was showing the children to their pets

if she was an airbender then the avatar order would be out of order. there would be 2 airbenders within 3 avatars. it's inpossible.
