I think he is, because he's ofcourse 112 years old, al the air nomads where killed bij the fire nation.
I hope he wouldn't be the last one, maby they will find another air nomad at the western air temple?

i agree with spookylm3 with the last air bender thing but i also think the other answer is about the exsistance of the avatar will be that itll just be a year without the avatar so itll miss out an air nomad avatar ?

i think that when the avatar eventualy faces the fire lord, a goup of air nomads will come and help him and they'd have been hiding in the mountains or something waiting for aang

Actually with reguards to the name the show was origionally titled "Avatar: the legend of Aang". In fact in some places the show still has the origional name. Personally I think that even if the temples fell the air benders were nomads. they very easily could grow their hair out long enough to hide their tattoos. or they could have quite simply stopped tattooing their children so that they could hide amongst the people of any nations. after all the nomads were pacifist, and wouldn't fight if they could avoid it.

I personally think that there has to be some other airbenders out there. even if katara and aang become a couple what will there childrens bendings be water or air. they could grow hair like aang did at the beginning of book 3 you never really know.

it's said all born air nomads are all airbenders... so if katara and aang make out as much as they can, they could make a new civilization of airbenders... hehehe... lol
