No you misunderstand me. I like Katara; but I don't think we can call her a master bender. Wah? she is Paku even said!!!!11 ;Dplease allow me to dispel that misunderstanding you have on this subject because it seems to be your only "prof" to back up what you are saying and i think that you should know what really happened, then maybe if i disprove what you are saying you will agree with me when i say KATARRA IS NOT A "WATERBENDING MASTER". In that episode paku never came up to katarra and said to her that she was a "waterbending master" nor did he say anything to that effect or that would hint to her as being one, he told anng that he had a master(which he meant to mean teacher at the time) to teach him waterbending from the little bit that the person(katarra) would know at that point in time. understand that in the world of marshal-arts(and from what i can tell the atla world too) you have people that have mastered some skills or ability(like bloodbending or metalbending) then you have people that students call master or sensi(their teacher)like katarra and then you have people who are given the title of (in this case)either "EARTHBENDING MASTER", WATERBENDING MASTER", "AIRBENDING MASTER" or my favorite the great "FIREBENDING MASTER" they are people who have MASTERED ALL FORMS of their element. just look at that episode again I'm sure that paku tells anng he already has someone as a master(teacher) to teach him waterbending after he asked about finding another teacher(who students call master). BTW had anng not asked that question paku would have never even said that TO ANNG!!!!!....... (long pulse to get my breath(mind you he still never said even that to katarra, let alone called her a "waterbendingmaster") trust me look at it again you'll see that I'm telling you the truth. with that being said there are and was never any "waterbending masters" nor her teachers that said or told or hinted to her or anybody els that katarra was a "waterbending master" and so i stand by my statement from before which as been the same this whole time and that is that KATARRA IS NOT A "WATERBENDING MASTER" and is in my opinion fair fair from one if you want to know why i said that last part then read all my post before this one and you will see at the very lest do that before responding to that last part thanks. by the way I'm new so sorry about all the double post that i have done it will not happen again ;D and yea I'm very long winded. sorry

Aaaah...sweet logic I always respect a person who can argue logically. Yeah, it used to tick me off that the creators always made Katara so weak in battles after they called her a "master" but now I see what angle you're coming from. You're probably right in your deduction. But the bloodbending seems like a technique for only a master waterbenders to learn... so maybe water without this kind of "evil" bending is just not as powerful as all the other elements...I dunno, good food for thought (Pakku certainly handled himself well, so I don't know what to think about Katara). But, for your well thought out explanation *exalt*

But, for your well thought out explanation *exalt* thank you very much i try my best all the time and you are so kind and as far as bloodbending goes what you say is very true but remember that 1. she as not mastered it and is not that good with it either 2. she will not train her bloodbending nor even use it ever again cuz she feels its to evil so it is the same as if she can't do it at all. so can we really say that her "bloodbending" (if it can be called that) even truly counts? and thank you so very much for your positive fed back and taking the time to read my lengthy posts. *exalt* back at you. ;D

That is all true, but why would Paku trust Katara to teach him to master water bending if He didn't think she was a master herself? There is also a show of controlling large bodies of water, similar to Paku. We also do know that she is stronger then Hama, signified by the Jaw Drop and they were using the same technique too. Just curious though, how do they define a "Master" at bending arts?

To be a master you must be a a seasoned fighter, and mastered the art threw and threw. Katara is still learning. She has been training for how long again? She clearly has a natural talent for it though. She might not need to have trained as much as others, to which, the art doesn't come naturally.

She teaches aang water bending so she must be a very good bender to improve avatar's bending.I think she is great.
