Hay you keep bring up that she was declared a master waterbender by TWO old masters, but keep in mind if you were to call and apple a bear would you be right? What does that figure of speach mean? It's not a figure of speach. He's trying to say that just because someone calls you something it doesn't mean you are. Yes, she's a powerful bender, but to be a true master one has to master their element in every aspect. I don't think she can be called a true master until she truly accepts her skills... All of them, which now includes bloodbending. Just as Aang needs to master all four elemets (thus firebend) to become a fully realized avatar, Katara needs to accept the fact that she can bloodbend and be able to use it when needed. Personally I think a true waterbending master will be able to learn how to bloodbend without the use of a full moon, but that's off subject. Katara is one of only two bloodbenders and she needs to accept and embrace that skill to be a true master.

The only way to be a master is to be seasoned and experienced. Katara is neither. There is no dought she can be a master but not yet. That's like calling a sapling a oak. So even though it already looks like a duck, walks like a duck, sounds like a duck and is positively identified as a duck, it may not be a duck, because you think it should only be an egg yet? Keep in mind, if you were to call a duck an egg, would you be right!

katara is definitely a master water bender. master boku said she was to aang at the end of the first season. Well actually he just said that Aang better get used to calling her 'Master Katara' and in episode 1 of book 2 he said that waterbending scrolls are helpful, but they are no substitute to a master. She may have become Aang's teacher, but se was not officially declared a True Master.

Katara is one of only two bloodbenders and she needs to accept and embrace that skill to be a true master. 1. No master has to like his potential ability to harm, manipulate and kill. I doubt that, for example, Yoda was thrilled about his ability to potentially break someones neck with just a thought. The ability to use a dangerous technique may be important, but even more so the wisdom to know when to use it and when not. 2. Katara may hate bloodbending, but she's already proven that she's willing to use it if necessary and not for simple revenge or power. 3. Following your logic, all waterbending masters who don't know bloodbending (that would be all except Hama and Katara) wouldn't be masters at all ... but wait ... according to your line of thinking even Hama might not be a master, since she needs the full moon to bloodbend.

Keep in mind, if you were to call a duck an egg, would you be right! Ok. Is a duck egg a duck? No. Can a duck egg become a duck? Yes. But fact is, Katara's no "egg" anymore: she's already walking, quacking, flapping her wings and she's been identified as a duck, NOT an egg. That was the whole point of my comparison - didn't you read it?

okay, so you say she isn't experienced, eh? so i guess battling hundreds of firebenders and earthbenders and even a few waterbenders, that doesn't make her experienced?
ahem, YES IT DOES. She fought Azula, which is enough experience to be called a master. In fact, her battling Azula alone, shows how Katara can easily defeat Azula.
As for seasoned fighter? If you mean by that she needs to fight year round, well, hasn't she? If not, then its pretty close to year round. In almost every episode she fights or uses her waterbending somehow

She is not a duck yet. She is still an egg. But lets think of it this way. Let's say she was already walking, quacking, flapping her wings. She still is not a duck. She is a duckling.
